LOL AD700s bass found.

Thread Starter

Everyone knows that I constantly bash the AD700s when it comes to bass. I pretty much say these things have no bass whatsoever. They have as much bass as an anorexic boy has fat.

But I was listening to this song, in FLAC, and was like...what is this tingling sensation stroking my ear.

!

Is that BASS I hear? Oh my! The bass guitar gently slapped my ear in a very nice manner. It wasn't bass heavy. It wasn't pounding my ear. It wasn't fatiguing, but the fact that I felt anything made me giggle.

Silly little post, but lol.

Was worth adding another post to my count.

People that say they have "no bass" probably aren't using a system with much synergy with the AD700's. Either that or others have different interpretations of "no bass". Out of my STX/Titanium HD they don't have LOTS of bass, and they're definitely bass light, but I can still enjoy electronica with them - they've got better bass punch than people give them credit for.

Edit: to give you some kind of background on how I generally like my bass, my favourite headphones atm are Ultrasone Pro 750's. Ultrasone's are generally considered bass heavy.

They have some bass in this song as well:

I don't think I've ever heard the AD700, but from what you describe, stay far away from the AKG K701. The silly thing is so airy, that it gives no weight to any vocals or instruments whatsoever. A weightless tenor sax piece with an artificial soundstage as wide as a football field is anything but natural.

Use that with your 700's.. Go as low as you want.. or as high, see what they can produce.

I've found most can go lower then rated if you give them enough power.

The AKG's have more bass than AD700s. The AKGs are also significantly more power hungry than the AD700s. The AKGs are a great pair of headphones when properly amped and used for the right genre of music. People try to use them for all genres or on an amp that doesn't do the headphones justice often. That's why the AKG's are often rated lower than their actual value justifies.

The 702s also give increased bass, not that the headphones are meant for heavy bass.
