G2PLAY.NET - Fishing info - Scam - Possible Fraud?

I wanted to alert everyone using G2PLAY.NET that it is a highly suspicious site that gathers info.

I originally purchased Witcher 2 for $18.99 and they sent me the steam-key after I confirmed that the email they had sent it to was verified as accurate.

This time I went to purchase Rage for $48.31 and this is the response I've got from them:

"Please send scan or photo of your front and back ID card, passport or driving license (valid government document in colour, which has not expired) with hand-written order number on paper.
We are required to ask you of this as a security measure, so we can be assured that we are dealing with legitimate client, not a scammer.
Please be assured this is a common procedure, you would be asked for the same by Paypal and many other Companies which deal with customers online.
It's a one - off procedure and once it is complete, we will destroy any and all copies of your ID's.
This is a one time procedure.
You will not be asked for it again in the future.
Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
Thank you for your cooperation
."

I'm not sure about you guys who have dealt with them but any company that requires info like a drivers license or passport photo front and back is fishing for info.

My payment was already verified through pay-pay which already verifies it's customers. Hence no further proof should be required by seller.

Something is very wrong here. I should have listened to Nortons Web Protection that was warning my of a high suspicion of fraud.

Anyone else have this happen to them? IF so did you actually send this type of info request?

You may also want to be careful about the keys you've used already, I just read elsewhere about a dude buying keys from some other site and getting his entire account banned outright and losing all his games. So if they are indeed running a fishy operation I'd be wary.

I've gone through the dispute center with Paypal and the money is being refunded.

Luckily the seller 7 ENTERTAINMENT PTE. LTD dosen't have my real info.

I should have been leary of something for free as it comes with strings or isn't true. In this case it was product for less. To be honest the extra $20 is worth the piece of mind from buying from a reputable seller instead of some Chinese based company.

I should have known better. Heads up guys. Thought I'd share this with other OCN members. wink.gif

Well, I faced that the moment I attempted to purchase a key, sent them a pic of my school id, cause I didnt really trust them either, but They wanted MORE proof, so I cancelled my order and got refunded.

I actually just purchased NFS: The Run after hearing about the latest patch (cheapest I could find the game anywhere today) literally 5 minutes ago and got my key in about 2 minutes time. Key activated without any issues in Origin, G2Play did not require any information from me, I submitted payment thru paypal. It is 11 AM in Singapore right now where they are based out of so right about now is probably a good window of time to buy games and get fast responses. Works fine for me, no complaints...downloading game now. thumb.gif

My first purchse was fine. Then my second purchase though they charged me, sent me an email asking for more verifying info that would have given them enough into than any retailer needed to steal identity. The payment being through paypal would have assured them the money was theirs. Technically I feel they might be fraulently obtaining keys somehow and are not as legit as you think.

Tread carefully and don't provide them your credit card info directly or you may get burned. If you did I'd watch your card closely for any suspicious activity you didn't purhcase.
