I originally didn't install the drivers during OS install and had the option set on in Bios. I had the same issues you had (weird HD lockups).

Good luck hope everything works out.
What he said.

Rule out software before you go after hardware.

My problem seems to be almost paranormal; There's no rational explanation for it, installing win7 32 bit (just to see what happened) didn't solve it either; the thing is, it's not in all my games, but it happens in almost all of them, I found a thread about a guy with the exact same problem as me, he didn't seem to solve it so far either.

Ok, new discovery:

I tried played games in windowed mode monitoring my cpu usage with the task manager and I noticed the cpu usage stays around 36-40% while I stay still in game; Once I start moving around the map and start having this 'stuttering while loading new areas and textures thing' the cpu usage doubles itself to like 60%-70%. Im starting to think it's some option in BIOS that is set wrong.

What could be the cause of this? Faulty cpu? Please overclock.net, your help would be really important to me, I'd be forever grateful.

Thank you.

-edit- one more thing, I noticed with CPU-Z that my core voltage fluctuates from 1.360 to 1.390 almost constantly, is this normal? Also, when Black Ops is loading into the main menu the cpu goes up to 98% :O

The vcore fluctuation is normal, especially if you have everything set to auto. CPU-Z never really shows the proper voltage anyway--no software program ever will.

It makes sense that your cpu usage would increase when loading new things, it has more work to do! Are you overclocked at all, with any part of your system?

hi; nope, everything is at stock at the moment, so idk. I just find odd that the stutters coincides with loading new areas which coincides with high cpu usage, even more odd that it doesn't happen in every game, but it happens in most of them.

Yeah, the reason I asked if you're overclocked is to see if the CPU is bottlenecking something. Overclocking may help, but it's not likely. I know if I don't make sure to have the +20% power in CCC activated, i get a stutter about every second that just makes playing impossible, but it doesn't seem to be the same problem for you.

At this point, I'd just recommend reinstalling your OS in hopes that fixes it up.

Already done it

This is obviously a hardware issue, I just wish I knew what is it.
