Is this a Dirt3 Edition Sapphire 6950? I'm so confused.

----------SOLVED----------

I have received delivery this morning of my first computer build's components, all at first seemed fine, until I looked at the graphics card packaging.

On the front there is no sign of this card being a Dirt 3 Edition, and the story is the same on the inside, until unpacking the card.
As far as I can see I've received a Dirt 3 card with standard packaging (and no Dirt 3 coupon) and I am confused about how this could happen or if I am right. I live in the UK and the card was ordered from Scan.co.uk here. Here are some pictures of what I've received.

This dual-fan cooling does look like Sapphire's own design. However, Sapphire has two cards using this design, the HD6950 2GB Dirt 3 and the HD6950 1GB (http://www.sapphiretech.com/presenta...n=&lid=1&leg=0).

And, making the matter more dubious, the HD6950 1GB version has an alternate box design that looks very similar to one that you have now.
http://www.envizage.com/products/gra...-dvi-hdmi.html

Even if this card is indeed a HD6950 2GB Dirt 3 version (with all the proper clocks), it still misses the Dirt 3 coupon which is certainly part of the deal that you paid for.

So, I would contact Scan immediately and arrange for a free exchange.

Okay, will do.

What about that big 2GB bit at the top though?

I cannot tell from the pic but is that '2GB oval' a sticker or is something that is actually printed on?

Regardless, my best guess is that this is actually a Sapphire HD6950 2GB but it is not a Dirt 3 edition. More accurately put, it has the Dirt 3 cooling but without the coupon.

Well spotted. The '2GB oval' is in fact a sticker.

I have contacted Scan on the number that came on the postage slip and an E-mail has been sent to my father, I am to reply to this with the problem and they will contact me on Monday, this is a pain because I was scheduled to start working on the computer next Friday, in time for the start of my half-term and I doubt an exchange will happen before then. I wouldn't mind if it was a Dirt 3 Edition card but it's going to be hard to tell until I get it in a PC and to then find out that it's a 1GB or something would be a real pain!

Thank you for helping (+rep), I'll post an update if needed.

Aiya, as it is a sticker, then the chance that someone mistakenly put that '2GB' sticker onto the wrong box (HD6950 1GB) is fairly high!

My bet now is that the card is a HD6950 1GB version.

Well, in short, that sucks.

I've looked at the website and as far as this search shoes they only sell two types, of which I ordered the Dirt 3, so the fault doesn't lie with me mis-selecting. Although how does a 1GB standard with a 2GB sticker get mixed up with the Dirt 3 Editions if they don't even stock them?

It could also be Sapphire ran out of 2GB box and so they used the 1GB boxes by putting a '2GB' sticker on. So, the card you have could be a 2GB card. It is uncertain until and unless you put the card into a system and boot up to find out. This is definitely not your fault.

But regardless, the Dirt 3 coupon is still missing. That represents value that you can resell if you do not play the game.

I bet if you contacted Sapphire, they'd toss you a free key like you were supposed to get. Just explain what happened.

Well, you may say that this is to me and my decision will change depending on what customer services say to me:

Should I keep hold of the card and try it in my system next weekend when I'll hopefully assemble it or should I try to have it replaced before Saturday?

Another question might be can I tell if it is a 1GB just by looking at the back of the card (less RAM chips) or is it only possible to tell when installed in a pc?

With luck customer services will say that it is a Dirt3 with a substituted case and send me a coupon, without luck I've got the wrong card (even though it's not stocked there!)
I'm currently awaiting an E-mail from them (forwarded from my dad) and I'll see what that has to say.

Thanks again for the help so far.
