Upgrade from 570 SLI. - Page 2

I run a single gtx 570 during the bf3 beta at ultra x4MSAA and i was avg 47-60fps @1080p

i think esp with your sli rig, it should run fine.

people had diff. experiences with the beta in terms of using vram etc

but just wait for the official release.

maybe do a little Overclocking and see if you get a better result (by testing before&after with other games).

Can't find anywhere in Aus that sells the Lightning Xtreme unfortunately.
If anything I would go with two 3GB Phantoms.

And yeah, kinda realize 3GB is overkill for 1080p. However BF3 (main reason for this potential upgrade) at ultra pushes near or over 1.5GB. Getting paranoid

Yeah that is true. I didn't really notice major slowdowns unless outdoors during intense gunfights. Thanks for clearing that up, would really like to avoid spending a huge amount just for 1080p. However if I stick with these two cards, would it be wise to invest in watercooling? The cards do run quite hot, and with Afterburner's custom fan setting, also very load under load.

Additionally, you don't want to base such a large purchase on the performance of a beta. You have a top tier GPU setup. On release, the devs and nVidia will get to work at increasing optimization and real performance. Be patient! From what I'm hearing though, BF3 is going for the graphics crown and will need 2 580s to max out everything incl. AA. If that prospect is enough to scare you into another purchase than go right ahead.

This looks like a more enticing option to me vs. upgrading. It's essentially a main philosophy of this community - cool it down and clock it up!

i just overclocked mine as listed on my sig, when i was running benchmarks it went up to 82Cdegrees on auto, i config'd it so at diff. temps. it would speed up the fans... after running the test the 2nd time, max was 52Cdegrees.

so different outcomes, play around, in which you think is safe for your rig.

i didnt notice slowdowns at all on bf3 and i was avg at 47fps.

i think just wait until the official release, update your drivers to the latest, BF3 required the beta drivers to run at full potiental, so take that into consideration as well.

dont jump the gun and spend $100-200 + on top of your graphic cards to 580s because i dont think its worth it, and also, 570gtx in some tests, run better in SLI then the 580. just play around abit.

dw im sure when the official release comes out, the game will be stable, take into consideration that its an online game, so internet connection does vary, and also have an affect on the 'lag' of the game.

I don't get how your SLI 570's aren't enough...

I ran BF3 beta for a very long time on 1 GTX 570 and got 55-75 FPS outside and like 60-100 FPS in the subway. This was on max graphics. I'm currently in the process of upgrading to SLI 570's... So if you want to sell me a card go for it, I'll buy one.
