JF-AMD addresses the IPC claim - Page 12

That's news to me.

I used to post a lot more on OCN a couple years back. However, in recent times there has been a sharp increase in pretentious, angsty tweens that act purely on impulse. Most discussions here aren't worth partaking in anymore.

Nowadays it isn't uncommon to see threads with numerous posts consisting of nothing but "fail" and "^this."
It's as if some people can't form and elaborate on their own opinions anymore. They just follow mob mentality.

Why do you think its a republic and not a democracy ??? Because people have ALWAYS BEEN THIS WAY

Clearly they weren't facts. IPC didn't increase, did it?

What I'm "saying" is that John constantly said that his posts, no matter what was contained within them (even IPC increase comments) were HIS and HIS alone. They were -not- from AMD. That was his stance.

But IPC is such a relative term. Looking at results with .net applications, looking at results with fma/xop etc. IPC did increase in some areas and decreased in others.

Thats the thing about uarch design. You can only optimize for so many areas. eventually you have to ship the thing.

I think that anybody from OCN that sent JF hate mail should be banned outright. Thanks allot to those who know who they are and thanks to the ones who outright called him a liar in some of these threads. We probably lost a great poster here from AMD.

Oh really?

And wow. You're questioning other people's logic, after bringing up such a stupid example? FACT: if it was any other company that did a series of misleading adverts, it certainly would never be out of the question to hold a company's "Director of Marketing" responsible. Fact is, HE IS RESPONSIBLE for any of the misleading slides/adverts that were given, because he could've made direct input into what went or didn't go into them.

Obviously, unless you're high on chromosomes, you would blame the robber; however, in the JF-AMD argument, you are blaming the gun/bullets.

I mean, I could say this fluently in 3 other languages, but I figure English is going to finally do it for you.
Maybe you forgot the fact that he is the Director of Marketing for AMD. Any advertising/marketing campaigns have to be given the go-ahead by him. This is not some salesman or warehouse picker that we're talking about. If there was a change in performance figures, fact is, he'd be one of the first people to know about it. He was quick to tell us IPC will go up long before launch (multiple times) yet never notified us of the fact that it in fact went DOWN, which he would know LONG before launch, at which point I don't see why he joined enthusiast sites in the first place (he himself said he wanted to educate/inform others about the products, if that is the case, why leave information out that people needed/wanted to know the most?), other than to add hype to an already overhyped lineup of products. I can overlook the fact that his launch date estimates were wrong, but the fact that he left out information is not something I, or most people here, can overlook. I'm NOT saying the flameposts he got were justified, what I am saying is leaving certain information out is still considered misleading people.

Also your post is full of ignorance, because you're trying to defend him while making verbal attacks on everybody else. If you're going to go and preach your point to people, practice it yourself first.

this tbh...

i mean at the bottom of his posts it says, while i work for AMD my posts are my own opinions. it's funny how people don't read on the internet: i'm guessing a lot of those people with hate mail are either really upset with BD and want to vent / blame him because he works there and they "know" him, or plain didn't read what he said...

I think I might actually go to other boards if this crap continous. A community with haters is not a place i want to spend my time in. I'll wait some time for the dust to settle, but I rellay think things are getting out of hand.

Another thing, JF said all the time that anything before launch was suspect - and if you missed that one I really don't think you should blame JF.

A lot of things went wrong with this launch and AMD made some huge mistakes - but let's keep things civil at least

I think he's getting more credit than he deserves, whether it be good or bad. The guy doesn't deserve personal attacks in pm's, that's just crazy. However he never gave any real information out on Bulldozer because he technically could not anyway. I remember asking him and seeing others ask him as well about the idea behind the module, and how he thinks that would affect performance. He just responded with something to the tune of, "It doesn't matter, they will be marketed as having 8 cores." I realize he probably couldn't say much because of NDA, but the actual response just felt silly, especially here. He's expressed more than once in the BD blog thread that he's a server spokesperson and hasn't given signs of interest or knowledge of desktop enthusiast PCs.
I'm not really sure why he posted on enthusiast forums in the first place really. =\\ Not trying to be a jerk here. I do feel bad for the guy and how he was talked to, especially in PMs? I mean he technically never lied, but he never really offered any real information either.

what happened to JF? He doesn't make BD so don't hold him accountable for it. No one really knew for sure how BD would perform.
