I didn't read to much about it all. I come on here about once a month but why does anyone know who he works for in the first place? This shouldn't be common knowledge any more then say where I work.

I love how im getting attacked now for saying that and the point I was making was this. You shouldn't care if someone flames you, sends you a hate filled pm or puts you on their block list. Its a web forum guys. Lighten up. What goes on here has no impact on your life.

Because he's here as a hardware rep. A liason to the forum users. There are lots of them on OCN. MSIAlex, for example, is MSI's hardware rep.

I think most of us can agree with the title of my post.

Nobody who is yelling, insulting or complaining is right.

Naive and/or gullible people:

1. You shouldn't take everything Hardware Reps say at face value. They will only say what they are allowed to, and that usually means the good stuff.

2. Don't make rushed purchasing decisions before you can try the final product or hear from someone else's experience / review. You don't buy a house, a car or a pair of shoes before doing a visit to the house, making a test-drive or trying on the shoes + reading the opinions of people you trust / professional reviews.

3. Calling him names is the consequence of yourself not being able to handle your own gullibility. You fell for it. Lesson learned. You'll sure remember to put JF-AMD's statements (or any other Hardware Rep's) in their proper place in your mind if he ever comes here again.

Company (and Rep - isn't it the same ?) capable of acting questionably:

1. Some of you you seem to forget how this all started. Go read the first post by JF-AMD. He was the one who started "The Bulldozer Blog is Live" thread more than a year ago. Look at the join date of JF-AMD; it was less than a month before starting that thread. Read his post. He is talking as a company rep; forget about what he says in the signature, that's another thing some of you guys also need to learn, it's virtually impossible to distinguish between his personal opinions and his work at AMD. Basically because he is entitled to very little personal opinion.

He can only do what AMD allows him to. If AMD didn't want him to come to this forum and act officially as a "Hardware Rep" and create the thread he wouldn't have; in all other respects his opinion is limited to saying how good everything that is not covered by the NDA is.

Don't fool yourselves. When he said IPC will be higher on the Anandtech forum and on this thread on OCN five days later, that was in August of last year. By August this year he probably knew that what he said a year earlier was now false. Don't expect him to tell you that part. Because this is not a matter of his own opinion, he is not free to share his opinion, he works for AMD.

He calls himself JF-AMD and got the "Hardware Rep" moniker from OCN for a reason. Saying that it's only his opinions and that he is from the server side is only to make himself less responsible for questionable behaviour in the end, if it comes to that (it did).

2. Calling people idiots in his post reveals a lack of professionalism. Sure, it's not a comfortable situation to receive hate mail, but he should know that by now, given he was only allowed to say the good things and not the bad ones. And even more, he should know that calling idiots "idiots" is not going to make them realise they are idiots, it will just make things worse.

He is basically talking about some of his potential customers. Rule n. 1: never talk bad things about your potential customers, no matter how idiot they are. It's unprofessional and it only reveals you can't play the game properly, you end up calling names to the ones that called you names. What good is that for ? It's juvenile in a bad sense.

His post apologizing is also a marketing stunt to make him not look so bad. Of course two months ago he knew the truth. He could have stopped people from riding the hype and not rushing buying a new motherboard. But he couldn't. He was under an NDA that only allows him to say the good things.

So this is not a case of "This is not a case of me lying, this is a case of me being wrong."; he left his statement from a year before as it was and didn't correct it. That may be a lie by omision to correct a previous statement, but it's still a lie. Being under NDA doesn't make it less of a lie. We all know he couldn't tell the truth, but that doesn't change the fact it's still a lie.

Also, read his sentences carefully. For example, when he says "Since the launch I haven't really been in any forums because I was in Seattle all week with MSFT.", does that mean he wasn't here at all ? No, it just means he didn't post. Important thing here is the "I haven't really been" part. Other than that he was lurking around. Many people including me noticed him viewing the thread in the hours following the launch. So, take everything he says with a grain of salt and scrutinise what he says if you're really interested.

3. AMD is no different from any other company. Underdog or not, they can all behave in questionable manners.

What have they done to their misleading video on Youtube ? To this day and hour I'm writing this post, nothing. Just what is convenient for them, they disabled the comments. Did they remove the video or replace it with a corrected one ? No, even though they have probably had lots of comments pointing out the false statement they make about the Core i7 980X in Cinebench, but it suits them even more to remove all the comments and leave the video. Some unsuspecting people might still be tricked if they don't watch it to the end. Just like with spam bots, you can always trick a few people.

But I read somewhere that he does this on his free time. In your free time there's no need to comment on who you rep, cause you are only rep'n yourself during your free time. He wanted credibility for his comments.

I never sent him any hate mail or PM's but if JF made a thread apologizing for his lies immediately after BD release then things would be different. But he went dark, I don't care where you are, if you spent months saying accurate leaks were fake and IPC would be higher than your previous chips and it failed that hard then you need to come out and say "I was told IPC would be higher but it clearly isn't, I SINCERELY APOLOGIZE".

What do I see in this late response? "Boo hoo people are being mean to me for lying, please feel sorry for me?" Don't bother hyping the next chip, your credibility is long gone.

EDIT: And he did post the claim on other forums, the link is in my sig. MOAR LIES JF MOAR!

He was posting on the Bulldozer forum on his free time. Answering what he was allowed to. Not all of his posts are on his time. He's an official hardware rep.

It's a huge loss, let me tell you. All those benchmarks that were true, all the reports of terrible performance were true while we had to listen to JF talk down to us, like we didn't know left from right.

Gosh I don't know what we're going to do without a guy who clearly is not in the know talking down to us like we're all moderately retarded.
Also, I completely agree with the above 2 posts.

He didn't lie about anything. HE DIDN'T RELEASE ANY INFO. He may have been told to say those were fake, or he may have been misinformed himself. He doesn't owe anyone anything after the way he has been treated.

Also, regarding your sig, he was specifically talking about the server side, as he said about 100000 times in the blog. He handles the server side of things.
