Fractal Design Core 1000 / i5-2500K / 560 Ti

My dad decided that he needed a Battlefield 3 machine, he asked me to build one for him, and so I did smile.gif
I haven't seen any Fractal Design Core 1000 builds yet here on OCN, so thought I would share it.

Specs:
CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K
GPU: ASUS 560Ti DirectCU II TOP 1GB
RAM: Corsair XMS3 1333MHz CL9 2x 4GB
MB: MSI Z68MA-G45 (B3) mATX
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 500GB SATA 3.0, 16MB, 7200RPM
PSU: Corsair GS 700W
Case: Fractal Design Core 1000
OS: Windows 7 64bit
Keyboard: Logitech Gaming Keyboard G110
Mouse: Razer Diamondback 3G
Screen: BenQ G2420HDBL 24” LED

The boxes, nothing special:

First of two unboxes, yay smile.gif!:

MB, CPU, RAM & stock cooler:

CPU & RAM installed (yup, the lock on the 2nd stick needs to be pushed in doh.gif):

Stock cooler installed:

Standoffs and the backplate:

Fits like a glove (not really, it was pretty hard to get it down there, the drive bays blocked a bit):

PSU, HDD, GPU installed and wires connected:

Yeah! It works in first try cool.gif:

Everything installed, and ready to go:

The case is really nice, VERY lightweight mostly because of its size, the only thing I think it needs is an fan filter on the 120mm cutout on the side.
The front 120mm fan is actually pretty lound, because of the filter in the front panel, I turned it down to 75% in the BIOS and it now runs almost dead silent biggrin.gif

There won't be any temps right now, but I think it is going to run pretty cool, if not he could always buy another 120mm for the side and 92mm for the back.

If it was me who bought the Fractal Design Core 1000, i would mod the front to fit two 120mm fans, the top one would have to touch the buttom of the drive cage, and the bottom would have to sit on the bottom of the case, but hey.. they will actually fit smile.gif
You might also want to drill holes for the screws and make new 120mm cutouts, and a new hole for the front panel connectors wink.gif

Thanks for reading/watching! thumb.gif

I like it smile.gif I'm thinking of Core 1000 for my next build because of the small simple design. But why is the hard drive up in the bottom 5.25" bay instead of on the HDD mounting panel?

Also, I wanted to see a huge CPU cooler in this little case tongue.gif

Right -now you can overclock the 2500k to 4.2ghz on stock cooler!! & I will ignore your lack of GPU power for BF3 tongue.gif

Nah, didn't work.

Ended up just using IE really quick and it loaded. Maybe it's Firefox.

Anyway, nice build.

Why shouldn't I?, the mounting panel is ugly, and almost blocks the GPU smile.gif

So you're saying the 560Ti isn't enough for BF3?
