Toxic 6950 or Twin Frozr III 6950?

Which one The Twin Frozr III can flash to 6970 easily, and has much better cooling, and use of MSI Afterburner and such. And it's already OC'd to 850 MHz.

But, the Sapphire TOXIC is OC'd to 880Mhz. SAME as a 6970 reference card. But it doesnt have that good cooling. Although it does have a good chance of overclocking through BIOS switch, so theres a genuine 6970 reference right there. But people have said that flashing doesnt work well.

Which one?

To my knowledge, there are currently no 6950's in production that can unlock (including the TFII and TFIII) other than the 6950 Toxic.

6950 Toxic, atleast the first batch, had a very good unlock rate, over 50%. As for the quality of the card, the Toxic is not a reference PCB and is in fact a higher quality custom PCB with digital VRM making it a better overclocker than the references. The Toxic's cooling is also non-reference, despite it's appearance, it runs quieter and cooler compared to the reference 69xx coolers.

You can check out my review in my sig, I also linked many pro reviews in the first post. Good luck on the unlock if you do get it.

You could also just get a Sapphire 6970 (same pcb and cooler as Toxic) for $320 AR shipped. Plus there is a newsletter for a $30 promo code for purchasing anything over $300 until Oct 20 which was sent out to Newegg.ca subscribers, not sure if US got it or not though.

Get Sapphire Toxic. There is a good chance you might not have voltage control with MSI TFIII.

i bought the TFIII 2 weeks ago and it unlocked perfectly. plus the TFIII cooler is amazing. paired with afterburner, i'm getting an idle temp of 33 and max load of 65. it's dead quiet, too.
