Ok sooo.... I am trying to figure out if i should go sandy now or the new ivy when it comes out. I am trying to figure out if i should get a DDR3 mobo and 8gb DDR3 ram for my current q9300 and 6950/6970 flashed. or if i should got sandy 2500k (mobo, cpu, ram) now and wait even longer for ivy... Money is a factor as well but any thoughts will be looked at Thanks in advanced!

Ivy isn't coming out for a few more months, and I think it will just be base level chip's right away. What I would wait for is the new Sandy Bridge E series. I believe it's only a month away. They will be 6 core's so they are going to be more expensive then the 2500k. GPU's i would go for now.

That 9300 is old news! So step up to the Sandy if you want. But like the post above me the ivy is coming out in 3 months and the E's are coming out soon so you could wait for those, you might have to cough up a pretty penny!

But these SB processors are faster then anything i have ever been on so the 2500K is a great choice for now, and later.

but it is up to you

the biggest problem is i think my 9300 and ram are limiting my gpu if this is really true (mainly cpu) i will look at upgrading. If not, I will get new board, ram and gpu waterblock

Meh that 9300 will bottleneck it a tad but you should still be able to play games quite well, it is still a good core.

Dont waste your money on Watercooling, just get good air cooling and spend your money elsewhere

And it doesnt matter if it is i7 or i3, you have to make sure that it says that it fits the 1155 Socket

I changed it because i found what i was looking for. I already have a watercooling setup so i don't want to go back to air for the sandy. i would rather spend the $10 on the mount for 1155 and keep my $250 watercooling stuff. i will pass that info on the cooler to a friend that is looking for a good air cooler though!

I had already went watercooling more than anything for the noise... I had a very loud air cooled setup and the other people (3 in one room) hated dealing with it so i decided to go as quiet as possible.
