gtx570 twin frozr 3 SLI, WORTH IT?

Thread Starter

Hey guys, so it has been 2 months since I built my computer. I overclocked my 2500k to 4.1ghz and my gtx570 to 900mhz.

I am contemplating on whether or not it is worth getting another:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127582

I have always thought SLI was never really worth it because many games don't support SLI, but that seems to be changing lately.

All the games I am interested in, GW2, SWTOR, BF3, SKYRIM, ect... these games will almost all utilize SLI.

My main question is though, IS IT WORTH IT?

Also, if I do get another -- will my current PSU be enough?

Worth is relative and no one can answer that for you. If you are the type of person that wants/needs to turn up all the eye candy in game, then you will need to SLI. Haven't heard much good stuff about your PSU. A quality 750W is normally plenty for 570s sli, I think yours is borderline at best, especially with that overclock.

If I were you, I'd just wait until these games come out and see how I feel. Whats the hurry...570s supplies are not running out any time soon.

it is beyond worth it. Just being able to max out all in game settings and then pile on the AA and having the video cards just steamroll thru it is very nice. I've had my cards since the 570 launched and the only game I have ran into that doesnt play well with SLi is Rage.

well, i do not have enough info for a credible answer to your psu issue, i can give you some input on games...

my single 570 OWNS the old republic, max frames no drops

BF3 i had no issues during the beta, almost always frame capped (although not sure what my thoughts were on the game itself) and i understand that there will be better graphics for the game once the game comes out because they locked alot of the settings however, my plan is if i need to buy a second one, i will, but im not wasting 300 bucks on another video ard if i dont need to, my rig has cost me alot as it is

skyrim, i see although i have no proof of this, i see one 570 being able to play the game quiet well, but we will have to wait and see.

I'm in the exact same position as you. I'm about to SLI my 570 and with our PSU its extremely NOT recommended. You can most certainly run SLI 570's but our power supply is very bad. I would highly recommend not using the GX 750W CM for SLI. I'm going to be getting the Corsair AX 850W and another 570.
