Well its all done, I had put down some cork flooring in my kitchen last year. and had a couple left overs. I measured it and cut it to almost the length and width of the case. I also used my feet extensions from the Wii-fit. I have a good solid inch and half clearance at the bottom now. Sorry the light is kinda off in my room but here is the pic.

another reason to keep your rig off the carpet should be obvious. walking thru the room creates static charges in the carpet, and you just never know when that charge might find its way into your pc. i'm sure a lot of people will say they've never had a problem, but why risk it?
Funny you mention static charges, I used to work for Stanley Steemer. One of the main reasons why businesses used to us a lot is because the protection we put down on the carpet was made out of Teflon and reduced static very well. So yeah, if you ever get your carpets clean you can put the Teflon down.

well, maybe it's my hatred of carpet in general. haha...
but for the record, i've never used any anti static precautions, and after wiping down my 11x14 inch acrylic side panel window, i throw it back on with such a static charge i could probably power an alarm clock.
