MSI 990FXA GD-80 Motherboard Owners...

Thread Starter
I built my system a month ago. I was having some trouble with Window 7 and the Bios till I called MSI and they told me that the Live Update 5 doesn't work with Windows 7 64 bit so I had to update the BIOS manually. Since then, I have had no problems and love this system. I currently have a AMD Phenom ll x4 965 3.4GHz @ 4.2GHz right now but I have a AMD Bulldozer FX-8120 on the way and should be here monday.

If anyone has any questions about this board or its BIOS, post here and we'll see if we can't help you out.

This is the first time I am trying to upload pictures to a thread so if you do not see them go to my album and check them out.

Suggestions and comments are definitely appreciated.

this is one of the best board for 990fx..loving every bit of it.... overclocks like hellll!!
and the new 11.5 is sexy...i updated through live update 5 win 7 32bit (thought it was risky) but worked like a charm....even attempted to update through flash drive but failed....overall a great board...have no regrets of picking it up over crosshair V

Ever since I've installed the FX-8120 I have had really big problems with this board. The voltages are not setting right. The chipset drivers and other drivers are not cooperating and is having a real hard time running windows properly. I have ordered the ASUS Crosshair V and returning the MSI. Hope this will solve my problem. I have seen review for this board and the Bulldozer and I haven't seen any problems yet. Thats why ive decided to go with it. If you plan on getting the MSI board and the Bulldozer, I would contact MSI and AMD regarding their issues and if they've been handled. Might take a while, maybe not but I cant wait for them. I need my system to work and ASUS has better review and service all around. MSI does have a nice board and nice quality and service but they should have worked out the issues before the processor came out. Im disappointed that they did not. Not putting MSI down cause it is a real nice board but they need to stay up to date with the reason they made this board for. The Bulldozer which by the way is a beast and definitely recommend for anyone looking.

Thank you for your time and I will soon to be no longer MSI board owner.
Hope MSI does fix issues with bulldozer soon for those who have this board and cpu.

Hello all, I am a first time M.S.I. board owner (since about 2 weeks ago) and this 990fx-gd80 runs sooo sweet! Along with a phenom ii 965 deneb I had layin around and some tactical tracer 1600 memory and my nvidia 260 core 216 factory superclocked I got off e-bay for 30 bucks I love it! I'm using an Antec high current gamer power supply and got my sentey arvina case for 89 bucks on sale and its a beauty. The mobo was an "open box" from Newegg that someone had returned because they "didnt want" but the BIOS is kinda funky. All else runs sweet as silk. The screen overlaps and flickers at times causing some words and sentences to dissapear. for example the "oc genie" will show up even in other screens and i can't read some lines because when i open another screen, the previous screen will still be there and the words run together. I have managed to get the crucial things set but can't really "play around" with overclocking due to this. I have about two more weeks before my time runs out to send it back. Any advice MSI experts? My other system is an asrock fatality with a 8120 and 8 gig of 1866 and this one runs faster!! Thank you all for the consideration.
