Corsair 800D Cooling . . .

post #1 of 5
Thread Starter
Well I got some money from selling a couple of items on Ebay, and even though I was planning on buying other items I ultimately decided to upgrade my crappy mid-tower case. I figure if I don't do it now, then I probably never will.

I was dead set on getting the 800D, but now I have read about cooling problems. My CPU is currently cooled with a Rasa RX360 kit, but currently that is all that is watercooled. I will eventually probably put my 560ti under water, but not currently.

My question is whether I need to worry about my graphic card or motherboard in this type of setup? I recently had problems with my computer shutting down due to overheating problems on those components during the BF3 beta, so I do not want to set myself up for that again. (Although my crappy mid-tower case and lack of fans contributed most to those shutdowns.)

Thanks for your replies.

You wont need to WC a mother board that will be fine.

And the GPU will be ok if you have a fan in the floor and in the midsection floor to push some air on it it.

I've personally never heard anyone I now how owns this case having issues with their cooling. The case is enormous and has plenty of room for air to move through. Stock corsair fans aren't the greatest things in the world but that's easily rectified by aftermarket 120s.

The Carbide series from corsair was recently released and it looks like they focused more on cooling options in this line of cases. I'd recommend giving them a look.

The 800D may well have been made for water cooling, but that doesn't mean its lousy at aircooling.

Will be fine as long as you have the interior fans in it.

What I am considering is:

1) RX360 rad up top with the stock Rasa fans pulling air through the rad into the case;
2) The two stock Corsair fans (140mm) in their respective locations;
3) Two Gentle Typhoons (AP15) as intake fans in the bottom (putting these in line in the middle bottom location).

What do you guys think?
