For all of you who missed it, 6697.67. Got a couple of 2d benches going up in my Hwbot profile, so look there if you want to see em. Nothing impressive though, considering the freq.

Took a measure of the current draw to the 8pin power connection, clamped around just the yellow wires. The amp meter I used outputs 1mV/1A, so 10mV is 10A and so.

DMM reading

Note, the meter was orientred the wrong direction, thus the negative reading. 34.9mV = 34.9A @ 12V (I think that is a 12V line) = 418W

Of course that was with 8 cores active, 1.8Vcore and 5.9ghz. At that point it was eating DICE like crazy. Just thought you should know

awesome job getting REAL power numbers!

Now i can see why 8 cores in wprime would have been an issue lol

Only way I found to OC in windows was with the ROG connect, which worked great. Only could up the ref clk though. If you boot into windows with a high clock and high vcore with a lot of cores active, your temps will increase liek crazy. At one point the pot temp went from -60C to -20C in like 10 second and it booted, I almost had a heart attack . And the pot was crammed with DICE too. The trick is to boot low freq/vcore and up it when you are read to begin. Wayyy too much power on these things. Glad I didn't decide to drop the 280gtx in for the gpu.

Reggie's right.. On dice 6.7GHz is a great OC.
At that overclock you should feel proud...
Now, move on to LN2 and take it that much further...

Thanks guys , it was fun. . LN2 will have to wait. I got a stack of 20 gpus to freeze, and a gpu pot incoming. Plus vmods and what not. And DICE is cheap here.

Those are some excellent numbers with all 8 cores active. Psh on the record broken with a 2 core BD.

With some LN2 and 8 active cores you could possibly get 8GHz too.

Also, the power draw is absurd. 418w is too much!

On the other hand does anyone know what a 45nm i7 950 would draw at 5GHz?
