CPU Intensive PC games

Hey guys,

I'm getting ready to do some benchmarks comparing two different intel CPU's, and was wondering if you could recommend some of the most CPU intense games available.

Here are the games I plan to test so far:

Batman: AA
Battfield:BC2
Battlefield 3 (Preordered will test once released)
Brink
Cod:MW2
Cod:MW 3? (May pre-order if I sell some hardware and have $ sitting in Paypal account)
Crysis Warhead
Crysis 2
Dirt 3
Dead Island
Deus Ex: HR
Duke Nukem Forever
GTA IV
Just Cause 2
Mafia II
NBA 2k12
Portal 2
Rage
Rift
The Witcher 2
Skyrim ? (I will probably pick this game up, I just don't know if I'm going to pre-order)

Those are basically the most recent games I currently have installed. I'm going to try to go pick up Shogun 2 later this week if I can get a descent price on it, as I don't play RTS, I don't have any, but I figure they are probably pretty CPU intensive with all the little guys running around.

Let me know any games you think I should add/remove.

Starcraft 2? It's always hit my CPU fairly hard, especially compared to my graphics cards.

portal 2 is no way close to being a benchmark.

starcraft 2 is pretty hard i heard.

Yeah, I was just throwing that one in there for some Source love. I suppose I'll skip it.

Between Starcraft 2, or Shogun2 which would you get just to benchmark with? I assume I can probably find SC2 cheaper. Not sure.

Starcraft 2 is a great one for cpu. Also keep in mind to use lower resolution as it helps eliminate GPU bottleneck. Correct me if I'm wrong on this anyone smile.gif

Right, I'm not really going to try to do that. I want to run the game full settings to see if there is any real world difference between the two CPU's with one higher end GPU.

So it sounds like pretty much any newer RTS/Strategy type game will do. I'll include one, probably whichever one I can digitally download the cheapest, I hate going to the store to buy retail copies of games.

I'm thinking F1 2011 looks like it might be a pretty good one to test too.

Lol none of you said Armed Assault 2?! But yeah, ArmA2 smile.gif

Emulators are highly CPU dependent. You'll have to tweak alot of settings to get it to be difficult but if you get it right it'll really show quite a difference.

Pretty unorthodox but it's definitely something...

Allot of these gaems are not CPU intensive. Hear are the few I know, battlefeild bad company 2, Arma 2, GTA IV and metro 2033. I have played just about every FPS out and these are the most heavy.
