Personally I wouldn't do crazy votlage without watercooling atleast. It woudl definitely be hard on the chip using an air cooler, even those running Phase or LN2 risk killing their chips with high votlage, only difference is that they can stabalize the chip better when using extreme cold which in turn reduces the stress on the chip in comparison to an aircooler or watercooling. I would recommend a top air cooler like the NH-D14 or the Silverarrow if you wish to go for it, otherwise watercooling would be a much better option. Just my thought's.

Maybe some of the more serious bencher's can comment.

I would appreciate if they did. I don't want to get a full WC setup because I travel with my computer a lot. I'm also looking at switching to a 4U rack mount case. I know the Corsair closed loop coolers aren't the same but is it something I could at least consider vs. water cooling?

My goal really is to achieve similar results to yours and get a stable 5+GHz for 24/7 usage.

The H80/H100 is similar to high-end air coolers, give or take a few degrees.
If you're not investing into full-blown WC, consider a Silver Arrow or NH-D14... or an Alpenföhn K2, these seem to be really good, too.

Well, if I invest into a 4U case (kinda need to) then I think I'm going to have to go with a closed loop system, that or modify the lid to handle a tall air cooler.
