Huh? childish? I think calling people trolls like it's some sort of hurtful hardcore insult that is gonna ruin our life is more childish.

Also not buying the best value products that are obviously better than other options simply because you were somehow hurt by someone you don't know on the internet is the dumbest excuse ever. Childish? Pot meet kettle...

Now obviously buy what you want but you walked right into it with your "what i'll be doing would be fine with an Athlon II". If an Athlon II would be alright why are you looking for 6 cores and spending more money? That's what I have a hard time understanding here. If your primary reason for the build is Photoshop and stuff like that then fine. Otherwise there is no need to call people trolls simply for suggesting something with a lot of overclocking headroom and an overall better value.
I didnt ask about value. And about the Athlon 2, all of us, even professionals would be okay with one.

Once again, I said nothing about value. I need performance and longevity for more than just games. I didn't get my feelings hurt, but I do find most sandy bridge owners very annoying. They're like a disease.

I don't know how a 4.5Ghz 2600k or similar would not provide longevity.

For the record I would NOT be ok with an Athlon 2. It would totally bottleneck everything from Gaming to Video Editing to Photoshop.

I don't see how an i7 970 would provide less longevity.

I didn't put it in there, sorry. All three platforms cost about eighty bucks apart. All with high end parts.

Get an i3 2100 or similar and be done with it, you are making a stupid choice of not choosing p67. Faildozer is no good, you really have no other option other than p67 or an athlon II.
fixed. plus with SB you can use a SSD as your HDD cache, which is baller. i wish i could do this with my x58
