WOT and Linkscanner are a bit different. WOT is community driven ratings, so its information is only as good as the community responses. Linkscanner on the other hand scans the website you are on and links on your current website for potential malware. If anything, I would say that it's similar to the web shield of Panda and other antiviruses, but I wanted the second opinion scanner since I have MBAMs web shield turned off.

1. Common sense
2. Understanding that nothing on the internet is private
3. Hardware firewall in router
4. OS Firewall on network adapters (sometimes)
5. Avast free antivirus

I actually had the same problem a while back. It started after AVG bought out the company that produced link scanner, and the problem persisted for a good year or two. After recently trying out BitDefender Trafficlight Beta, and not liking it because of the slowdown the full install caused, I tried AVG again. I've been using it for a good 2 weeks now and it has no performance hit for me at all. The search results in google and such are rated pretty much instantaneously as well.

^This. Plus, I use napalm - Always works!

Besides, what router doesn't have a FW? It only takes 2 min to set it up with a new PW.
