Help me choose a Video Card for BF3 -- 570 SLI or 580 3GB - Page 2

I would go with either of the EVGA cards. They both have a limited lifetime warranty. It all depends on if you plan on SLIing in the future. If you don't plan on it and will just buy a new card, I would recommend the 2.5GB model. Otherwise go with the cheaper EVGA model. I have a GTX 570 Superclocked and I am very happy with it. I participated in the Battlefield 3 Beta and it played very well for me.

Thanks.

I will pull the trigger on the MSI card since I can get a deal with the AX1200PSU.

Yeah, it might seem like its a deal, but you're paying a LOT more for that PSU, then you'd need to. You would never even need CLOSE to 1200 @ 90% efficiency. Unless you plan to get 3 gtx 580s in SLI, majority of that 1200w PSU will be a waste.

I kinda figured as much, but I was worried that 750w would not be enough once I Dual SLI the GTX 570s. Plus, with a 7 year warranty, I figured it would last several PC builds. I also have 8TB of drives, several fans, eventually a Corsair Link (if it is worth the investment), and I would like to OC the CPU.

I ended up paying $359 for the MSI, $250 for the AX1200, and saved $37 on the bundle and another $20 with a MIR.

That was my major concern.

Ive had 2 MSI 560ti Hawks and have 2 evga classified 570's and the msi tfIII cooling is good but id still take the evga classified over MSI tfII or III. Whether it be 570 or 580, I would still choose the classified. At 1080p you do not need that extra vram. And SLI 570's will more than handle BF3.

The vRam bottleneck is troubling... Plus, like I said before, once I build my PC, I do not want to upgrade my video card setup for at least 18months.

Instead of 2x MSI GTX 570 Twin Frozr III, would I be better suited to just fork over a little more and get 1x MSI N580GTX Lightning Xtreme Edition GeForce GTX 580 (Fermi) 3072MB???

Concerns of VRAM usage are vastly overstated. Two 570s will absolutely destroy a 580 3GB. At 1080p, my 570s play every game I have maxed out, AA included. Metro 2033, Crysis 1+2, etc. I played the beta for BF3 with every setting at its highest out at well over 100fps average and 70fps minimum.

If you have the space for them, go with the MSI 570s in SLI. You can't sandwich them together like reference cards, due to the protruding fans though.
