However,if gpu cant keep up with cpu and deliver 100 fps, then your fps will be lower.
Cpu bottleneck is always there, its just that its hidden in higer resolutions because card cant keep up and delivers less fps then cpu
Bottom line, either cpu or gpu always have to be a bottleneck otherwise you would be getting 999999999999 fps lol
Or to answer your question yes cpu can be a bottleneck no metter what graphic intensive settings you choose. If your gpu's have reech cpu fps limit, then cpu will bottleneck
Did you try disabling ubersampling option ? If there is no great fps boost, then its clear cpu is a bottleneck

Eh, kinda. The CPU's framerate potential is not completely constant as resolution varies, though.

AFAIK resolution doesnt effect cpu perfomance. Only thing that can lower cpu fps limit is cpu intensive options in game menu. Very few games has those though. Option such as physics in game which doesnt run physics on gpu etc..

Well the GPUs are pegged at 90%+. If it was a CPU bottleneck then GPUs should be throttled. Also, FPS increases by 100% when I turn off ubersampling.

CPU bottleneck for, say, COD to run at 130 FPS at 1024x768 all options low, that makes sense. But for Witcher 2 to run at 30 FPS at 1080p max settings with 3D to be a CPU bottleneck? Seems unlikely.

The fundamental issue as far as I can see is simply that there is no 3-way scaling going on. Without pulling off the Tri-SLI bridge and inserting regular bridge, I won't know if this is happening just at 1080p or also at 1080p x 3 in this game.

I'm going to see if I can just load up some other games and look at FRAPS using 1080p max settings + 3D with 2-way versus 3-way SLI. I do know that 3-way SLI scaling is working in other games at Surround resolution.

ubersampling should use a lot of VRAM.
are you running 1.5 GB? they may be bottlenecking.

So you are running 3D Vision, and 3 monitor Stereoscopic on Witcher 2 and wonder why you get bad frames?

I'd say what you're getting is fairly good, that's a lot of demand.

Edit: but that wouldn't be 1080P res you're claiming. And then points to other things as at 1080P maxed in 3D I can hit those numbers.

And is this just in the Dwarf Town so every where else is ok?

Here are the settings I run with, I don't usually use 3D Vision but I'll have a launch and see what I get. Without 3D enabled I avg around 45fps.

Well after running around Dwarf Town above and below(have a couple of saves during Subterrainian Life) I avg about 25-27fps in 3D with settings I use, low was 19fps high I hit 30fps. Stayed pretty much at 25fps. Something seems off as even 2 GTX 580's should essentially stomp my #'s.

Maybe my OP isn't clear enough since I've figured out more of what's going on:

1. I'm running 1080p max settings with uber sampling and 3D.

2. I am getting 28-30 FPS using Tri-SLI.

3. I get these same frame rates using Dual-SLI.

4. 4. All GPUs are pegged at 90%+.

Therefore, either something is wrong with the latest Battlefield 3 betas for Tri-SLI, the game doesn't take advantage of Tri-SLI, or Tri-SLI doesn't scale at 1080p regardless of how GPU intensive the game is.

And no, vRAM usage is surprisingly small in this game, so that is not the issue.

Well have you tried a driver roll back? The Beta drivers may have hindered or broke Tri-SLI in certain games. It's been known to happen.

But for the #'s you are posting something doesn't seem right imo, only getting 2-3fps more then a couple of 470's? I think I match your settings fairly well also.

If you haven't done a driver rollback I would try that. If it were me.

Did you get better performance or have you just started playing Witcher 2, just curious when it was noticed.

Edit: I am referencing your 2 GTX 580 #'s with the Tri bridge still on. Maybe try the regular SLI bridge to see if those #'s change?

As far as referencing Tri and Witcher 2, previously it was apparently working fine and efficiently.

I may do as you suggest. I am currently running 1080p max setting benchmarks for some games 2-way versus 3-way SLI. My 1080p 3-way SLI performance is Battlefield 3 beta also seemed disappointing, 55-80 FPS, so something may be broken or 1080p 3-way scaling is just awful regardless of how GPU intensive it is.
