As far as softness, I know I picked up some similar accent lights from Lowes for my living room entertainment center. These looked similar to the above post, but they have 3 settings of brightness. They are enabled and adjusted by a little touchpad sensor. It's pretty neat. Check it (these are at Home Depot).

I haven't personally had any issues with mine, although some reviewed had some complaints. The installation was more work than I thought I was getting myself into, but 2+ years now and they still work great.

i dont understand the question... if its not dark what the lighting for?
my lighting, in total darkness it slightly lights the room its enough to see letters on my black keyboard, when there's light its seen on the wall but do no effect

sorry i have my computer in a room where the lighting is alittle less than bright sometimes i get some eye strain .. rather than making the room bright would this work?
