Sli Folding.

Thread Starter
Hey there. I've been folding@home on off for awhile now.
I'm just wondering if there is a way to fold with both GPUs. Only 1 of my GTX 480s is being used atm and its kinda annoying me.

+rep for all help

You cant fold on SLI

If you want to fold on both follow this guide.

http://www.overclock.net/folding-hom...gpu-guide.html

or

Get the GPU client and make two folders and then create shortcut to the client. Once thats done, right click and go properties and put this on the first one
Code:
Folding@home-Win32-gpu.exe -local -gpu 0
Then on the second one put
Code:
Folding@home-Win32-gpu.exe -local -gpu 1 -forcegpu nvidia_fermi

There's a Multi Gpu Guide here, but i'm unsure if it works with SLI enabled.

Use 2 clients

Which client are you using at the moment? Console?

It's as easy as creating a new instance of the client, and telling it which gpu to use. This is done with the -gpu x flag, where x is going to be the number of the gpu you want to use, so one client will be 0, and the other will be 1.

You put this flag at the end of a shortcut to the folding client, in the target box. Like so

D:\\=folding!\\GPU\\Folding@home-Win32-gpu.exe -gpu 0

edit -- yep that above explains what I said in greater detail

Hey there,

I'm not all too crazy abt folding but when I do during chimp challenge, I generally use the quick and dirty FAH_GPU_Tracker_V2.. I have the 470s in sli as you can see and I never run into issues using that. It's easy as cake to setup though I think, it's not the best client available but, if you're looking for simplicity I think that is the best way.

Just in case:

As you can see, I have SLI enabled, and both GPUs are folding away. I always use this guide when I'm setting up my clients.

This is just flat out incorrect. Your system still distinguishes between the two cards, and therefore, when you use the forcegpu option and set them to 0 and 1, you are distinguishing between the slots on the motherboard. SLI does NOT affect folding performance.
