EDIT: I've never really trusted Patriot memory, or BIOSTAR motherboards either. I know BIOSTAR has come a long way, but they still got a long way to go, IMO
DaClownie, I have a 64-bit OS. I have Vista-64. Now, I know a lot of people talk trash about Vista, but I got it back in Redmond when I beta tested Vista and it's worked fine for me ever since. If you ABSOLUTELY feel that it's worth it to buy Windows 7 64-bit, do tell me. Also, thanks for your positive feedback so far, and everyone else's!

I cant say much for a Core 2 quad but I can vouch for the 570 it is amazing I would have gone for a 580, but $150 more for a small boost from 570 I didnt think it was worth it.

I'd say get a 570, a nice 2500K, and 6GBs of RAM. Unless you can find 8GBs for about the same price

His sig said 32bit vista when I posted my first post :/

And... I love Win7 compared to Vista. Just feels snappier, and I've never had a BSOD that I didn't cause from unstable overclocking

There were several combo options. OP you can sub in different RAM, they had plenty to choose from, the other combo I was going to suggest had 8gb Corsair Vengeance sticks, for and extra $15. If you don't want to do a combo, then try that g.skill DaClownie linked to. I've been using g.skill in all my builds the last 3 years, and have only had to RMA 1 kit, and the g.skill US RMA was great.

Yeah, sorry about that. I recently used the 64-bit disc after I had to reformat the last time. Decided I was going to upgrade to 64-bit instead of stay on 32. The box comes with both.

Core 2 quad would be decent with the GTX 260 in alot of new games, imagine that thing 3+ghz and a 570 that would max out alot of games XD. He also already has everything he needs for his system just a cpu swap and a gpu swap.

I've been running G.SKILLs in every build for the last 4 years, never had a single issue with a stick. On customer builds, I did a couple Corsair and OCZ sets, and I had to RMA 2 sets of OCZ and a set of Corsair. Vowed never to stray from them again.

Sapphire for video cards, G.SKILL for memory. Words to live by.

Also if you're a folder, you may want to consider the 560ti instead of the vid i recommended... ATI still isn't up to snuff for folding.

Enjoy a new rig though, with $600 you can do a lot

Would you be interested in selling me that GTX 260 once your upgrade is completed?
