LGA775 isn't quite dead yet, the good 775 processors are still rocking (though the Sandy Bridges are, of course, far better).

I agree with the others here. In addition, about streaming: I was recently in charge of the technical stuff in a project involving a Norwegian Council of State. It was an opening of the SeniorSurf day, a day when seniors learn to use the computer. The opening was to be streamed from the hall at my high school, and as I said, I was in charge. In order to stream in HD without lag, we used an Intel Core i7-2600K and a GTX560, if I am not mistaken. We were able to stream SD on an old E6600 dual core, but not completely without lag (the internet connection was a dedicated 100/100 Mbit\\s line on gigabit switches, so it wasn't internet lag). Consider that if you really want to stream LoL (I am a player too, btw ).

If your H50 isn't going to make it to the new system, you need to address that. Your immediate choices, as I seem them, are: a) to try and get that H50 into the new system; or b) get one of these (for like $25) plus an extra fan. I don't think that you're going to get "extreme" with the 212+, but it's decent and should get you by (in the event that you can't get the H50 transferred) until you can get funds for a new liquid setup or a high-end air.

If downstream you're going to stick with liquid cooling you're set. On the other hand if you're going to look at the more high-end air coolers, now is the time to make sure your memory will fit underneath them.

Note about the H50, and I think someone said this before, I don't think you're going to get "extreme" with that on SB either. Just sayin'.

i5 2500k

ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 Mobo

8GB G-SKILL 1600mhz CAS9 RAM

Sapphire 6870 1GB vid card ($15 MIR too)

Windows 7 64-bit OEM

Comes out to 657, $8 shipping total, and then $15 MIR off that that you'll get back in a couple months or so.

Completely revamp that entire rig for $650
You beat me too it ha. Was gonna post this exact setup. Siigari this is the best use of the money to upgrade for you. The difference will be like night and day.

Okay, taking the advice from the people in this thread, I have decided to go with a harmony of options that people have suggested. I am going to opt for the 560 TI because it will fold well, and because it's current generation. I am getting the ASRock motherboard because so many people here recommended it, and because it has good ratings and reviews. The G.Skill memory also has good reviews and ratings, so that also sounds good. And the cooler, well, I guess I'll just push the multiplier as far as I can with a hold-me-over or go down to BBY and pick up an H60 or something.

Cool man, I think you will be pleased with the upgrade.

One thing to note regarding your h50 the sticky pad on the mounting bracket isn't necessary, I moved my h50 into my htpc without any. I removed the old pad with a razor blade intending on picking up
some double sided 3m pads, but ended up just mounting it because I didn't feel like going to the store. If that's the only thing holding you back from using it, I'd say just get some new sticky pads.

I think you did quite well with your choices!
I'm sorry I didn't come back sooner to answer the question of V and V-LE. The LE is an abomination with much worse power management. You circumvented that anyway by going with the asrock board which I'm sure is a good choice!

Hope you enjoy the new build, I'm loving my 2500k more every day

i would stay away from H50 far too loud at max where it performs best.
Get a Thermaltake Macho or Silver Arrow.
