Hello! i am currently having an issue with my network, when i connect to my modem directly (no router) i get amazing download speeds i go up to 6.0MBps, but when i connect to my router i get up to 4.0MBps then it disconnect after 5-10minutes while im downloading it started to get real annoying im currently using a DIR-825 is it my router problem? im also using a CAT 5E if it is; what router will be good for me? im planning on buying a new router on black friday im looking at the E4200 hopefully it will go down to 90$?!

I had a router that throttled my speed like crazy and had horrible connection issues as well. I took it out of my network and my speeds instantly increased. Based on that and the information from your post, I'd bet on it being your router. I guess you could try a firmware update and see if that works. It's worth a shot I guess

I've heard good things about the E4200, so if you bought that, you'd probably be fine with it. Honestly though, I've never spent over $30 on a router. I'm running off of 2 Trendnet wireless N routers that I got for $50 in total right now and couldn't be happier. My speeds get maxed out over wireless and since I have one on each my the main floors, my connection is great everywhere. Personally, I would recommend doing this (just because I'm very fond of network setups with multiple routers) but whichever way you go, I'm sure you'll be a lot happier than you are now haha.

Good luck
