3x 120Hz Eyefinity Portrait Setup - Page 11

Cause it's AMD he has to do it all off the first card. I assume the 6GB Flex model has 6 DP?

This makes me want to sell my 30" and go back to a 3x monitor setup. thumb.gif

Man this is a bit overwhelming! I have to turn my head like 50 degrees to the left just to click on the Start button. smile.gif
Viewing angles even on my temp ghetto rig support system are very positive!

not that i'm jealous rolleyes.gif BUT i wanna criticize your setup. and multi-monitor setups as a whole.

i wanna point out a few things.
1. i'm not much of a gamer.
2. my gpu is a 6870 1GB

i tried 3 monitor portrait eyefinity. it was nice. i didnt like angling the outer monitors [on a FPS game]. do you prefer angling them or having them flat?

i think for browsing most definitely angling them is a must.

setting up eyefinity has not been a one click setup for me. i have my monitors managed by Actual Windows Manager. i prefer Actual Windows Manager over ultra-mon, windows and ati eyefinity because i can move programs to any monitor by keyboard shortcuts and all monitors have the taskbar cloned so i dont forget what i wanna do on other monitors.
when gaming i always have to setup eyefinity from scratch and its time consuming and its a 5 min set up which i just don't have the patience for. so when i was bored i just loaded up my game on the center monitor and play on it.
gaming on a single 1200x1920 isnt bad at all. i do participate in the 1080p vs 1200p wars in favor of 1200p but really once we load up games all those "minor" technicalities don't really matter.
having gamed on 1080, 1200p, 1600p i can honestly say there's no difference.
and gaming on the single monitor is fast and i can multitask with other programs on windows.

i think gaming on 5 monitors at the desk is overkill.

so i think you should give me your 2 extra monitors so i can use them for browsing... or else...

Curious. Are you aware of the existence of profiles? That allows you to easily change from extended to eyefinity and back and with 3 clicks from the system tray at the lower right corner of your display with the taskbar. Takes less than 10 seconds for me.

you honestly need glasses then because I can tell and everyone that I have let play on my 30" @ 2560x1600 is blown away at the res difference and how clear the picture is compared to 1200p or 1080p.

5 monitors is overkill? never if anything you could use the other 2 monitors for browsing/chatting/etc while gaming on the other 3 thumb.gif

i totally understand the more the better. i am a pixel addict myself. but 5 monitor eyefinity is ridiculous lol.
i do have a 30" monitor. initially one does get blown away. but you get used to it very quickly. and everyone is blown away with my setup. but when it comes down to it there's hardly any difference btwn the resolutions in gaming. there's no real advantage gaming on 1600p over a 1200p/1080p.
infact for now i think i'd pick gaming on 3 portrait eyefinity 3600x1920 over a single 1600p. (not sure what the aspect ratio of 3600x1920 is vs 16:10 2560x1600.)

i think the real difference shows outside gaming.

Sorry, I messed up a bit there. They used to be called profiles I think, now they're "presets". Same thing though.

Yeah, you just save your current settings as one preset, and the other settings as another preset, and then you can easily switch between them. I think there's even the possibility of binding hotkeys to them, but not sure. Anyways, I understand how switching between settings is a real pain, but presets make it very easy.

Overkill isn't a word that is supposed to be just thrown around here @ OCN thumb.gif

sure you get used to it but it does make a "real advantage" do you know how pixels work? LOL

You are telling me I am viewing the same amount @ 1200p as I would @ 1600p? LOL

I could care less about being able to browse the internet on 3+ monitors. I don't understand why that would matter you can only browse so much of the internet at once wink.gif

for programming 3+ monitors was great and I miss that greatly but I didn't like gaming on 3 monitors (mainly because the monitors I had were cheap, had huge bezels, and bad viewing angle)

i think i saw something about saving profiles before. but i dont think you can do that with eyefinity... but i havent checked. i just don't remember anywhere to save eyefinity setups.
