Locating Hard-To-Find Fans (Adda/Globe/Sanyo/etc.)

Thread Starter
I'm putting together something of a Christmas list for fans, and unfortunately I picked a lot of hard-to-find ones. I would love you guys' (and gals') help tracking down these fans. I'm located in the United States and don't mind international purchases provided the shipping is reasonable; that's how I got my Gentle Typhoons after all.

This is what the list looks like so far:

120mm Fans
  • Adda Corp AD1212DB-Y51 [rad fan] ($19)
  • Delta NFB1212L [rad fan]
  • EBM Papst 4312GL (Sintec sleeve; $32) or L (ball; $31)
  • Globefan ZG2-120A (white) or B (black) ($16)
  • NMB-Mat 4710KL-04W-B10 (ball) ($15)
  • NMB-Mat 4712KL-04W-B10 (ball) ($21.50)
  • Panaflo FBA12G12L1BX (hydro wave bearing) ($18, can get $2 cheaper but SVC pre-installs 3pin connectors)
  • Sanyo Denki 9S1212L401 ($23)
  • Sanyo Denki 9G1212M401 [rad fan] ($17.50 for the -02 suffix model, -01 not available?)
140mm Fans
  • Globefan ZG2-140A (white) or B (black) ($17.50)
  • Globefan ZG2-140C (white) or D (black)
  • Thermalright TY-140 ($20)
  • Thermalright TY-150
  • Thermalright X-Silent 140 ($16)

* For fan specs from the manufacturers, see attached an excel spreadsheet. I have a bigger 80-ish fan list too if anybody's interested enough for that.

Since some of these fans may be interesting to other members here, I'll update this topic with purchase information as I find it.

I do not read Chinese. Do you know what they charge for shipping to the US?

Updated the listing with some information; right now it looks like a couple are out of stock and may not go back in stock (no lead time or on-order information). It gives me a good idea on pricing at least. Newark is a damn fine site, so thanks for mentioning it prtuc2. Now I just need to hunt for sellers with the Adda, Delta, and Globe fans.

I contacted Globe via email to see if they've American or European distributors. It's Sunday so I'm not expecting the quickest response.

Depends, some can be ridiculously expensive and some can be free if its a large order.

I have bought a number of fans from Newark. Since I can crimp and have plugs, I have no problems finishing the ends of the cables. YMMV, though.

Be warned: those NMB 4710KL fans have two wires, not three.

If you're considering San Ace 9G1212x401 fans, consider getting 9S1212x401 fans instead. They're 4 dB quieter. I like mine.

Shop around for Panaflo vendors. Most people selling to consumers sell their Panaflos with the 3-pin Panaflo tail. Mine came from Sidewinder that way.

My 5-bladed Papst was a rather loud affair for the air it moved (see item 1 in my sig).

I'll admit I'm a bit of a nut about San Ace fans. But I won't be buying any more, and $16 is about my limit on a fan these days - any fan.

The most attractive fans to me are the Addas, Globes, and Sanyo. I really like the Addas and Sanyos for rad fans, and the Globes look like good case fans. The Panaflo interests me

My understanding is the S vs G designation is sleeve vs ball. Sleeve has the advantage in noise, but I can do more with ball fans for mounting (like horizontal rad mounting). While I'm more inclined to trust these fan makers, some of their numbers are still a bit off; I can't imagine a sleeve vs ball bearing would be a 4 dBA choice from someone known for using quality components.

A little research later and I stand corrected. Still a ball bearing, just turning a bit slower quieter. Adding to the OP.

The 4412FML lists a little bit louder than the 4312L, but your 'clatters' comment worries me. I'm hoping the ball bearing in the 4312L is a bit gentler but I'm less confident now. My thought is that buying the < 1700rpm fans will keep parasitic sounds down since they're already going slower.

New info:

Globe fans are apparently sold under the brand name of Zaward (daughter company of Globe). They market three generations of the fans with minor changes; G1 has a broader fin design, G2 narrows the fins a little in the 120mm and 140mm fans and is more efficient, and G3 looks the same as G2 but with hexagonal vs round dimples. Zaward markets these as case fans that are 15% quieter than fans without dimples.

They are sold via Zaward's ebay site for $17-18. Xbit labs reviewed the G1 and found it to be quiet, move a good amount of air, but it was edged out by the Noiseblockers, Gentle Typhoons, S-FLEX, and Nexus Basic (it looks to occupy a spot between the Noctua NF-P12 and those upper tier fans). Power consumption is very low, but startup voltage is high (8V).
