The ASRock P67 Extreme4 Gen3 is also a good option for motherboard. Make sure you get one that at least has 8/2 power phases.

1.5 is good if you're running one monitor. I don't see the point in having 3 unless you're going to be doing nvidia surround.

Get a different power supply, like andrewmchugh recommended, those brands are usually the best bang for the buck option when it comes to PSU's. (I saw this because there are always amazing psu's out there, but these ones are still very good and don't make your wallet cry).

2600k or 2500k would be a great processor, Intel is the best option right now. Like everyone else said, nobody would recommend BD unless their a die-hard AMD fanboy.

Good luck with your build!

Also, do you really need the Blue Ray drive? Just out of interest, I honestly don't see the point in them unless you're going to be watching Blue Ray movies on your computer (which I don't even know if that's possible).

this is my first post so...

i agree that bulldozer is not the best choice, and you should definitely go with SB. as for the gpu, even gtx560s in sli perform better than a 580, and you spend half as much, with the extra money that you save you could go for a i7 2600k. gtx 580 is a waste of money unless you're planning to go sli and dominate, but if you dont have endless sums of money, two weaker cards like the 560 are cheaper and better than a single gtx 580. in regards to everything else, you're set

Thank god! tongue.gif

You cant beat intel tbh ok im sure we've all had problems with some sort of hardware in the past ive had countless problems with corsair ram but still i bought it for my new build..

Also i had so much trouble with the Maximus II Formula it pulled another £300 out my pocket to buy new hardware for it to stop it from BSOD but still i bought the Maximus Iv Extreme.. But thankfully they both are working sweet.

Plus buy from any good retailer and they will offer 1-2 years RMA so if it does play around just send the thing back.

Drop the OCZ SSD unless you like to lose data, reinstall Win 7, and enjoy going through RMA. Their track record is pitiful when it comes to SSD... Look into the Crucial M4 they just don't fail or at least I have not heard of one failing, I love mine!

Go with Intel, as everyone already said BD is a joke and just puts AMD even further down the list of companies making pitiful choices when it comes to business decisions.

I have to 2nd the other poster that said go with 2x6950 vs. 1 x 580 extreme, they will BLOW it out of the water!

Asus make killer M0b0's so look into one of them, P8P67 would be a great choice.

Memory - Being so cheap go with the vengeance 16GB kit <$100

H60 - No thanks, not very good at all, if you want a modular all in one, step up to the H 100 if you are going to OC, they have had great reviews, worth the extra couple bucks, plus you will have a dual rad vs a single rad, = more cooling ability.

Good luck with your build.

Right you wanna play games,.. drop the 2600k to a 2500k and spend the difference on the gpu, Games dont use HT from the 2600k but they will use the powerfull GPU.

Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5
AMD FX-8150
MSI 580 Lightning Xtreme Edition 3 GB (Not entirely Sure)
Vengeance Series 8GB DDR3-1600
ModXStream Pro 700W Modular ATX Power Supply
Blu-ray BD-ROM/8x DVD±RW DL SATA Internal Optical Drive
H60 Hydro Water Cooler CWCH60 (Possibly Purchased afterward)
Vertex Plus OCZSSD2-1VTXPL6 60GB SATA 3.0Gb/s SSD
Caviar Black 1TB 7,200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Thanks!

PS. All or most from Microcenter

As others have suggested. The 2500K with an Asus motherboard. Bulldozer is horrible right now, but in the future it is supposed to get better with fixes.

Also ditch that power supply. I have the 600W version of it which has decent internals. The 700W version was complete garbage. Avoid it.
