Need help overclocking my 2600K

Thread Starter
I've got the P67 SLI MB and a 2600K. I want to overclock my cpu a bit. I know you use the BLCK to do this. In the bios it is at 10000 for default. When I try and just that to something like 10010 and reboot it does nothing and my cpu is still at the default speed of 3.4 Ghz. I want that to go to 3.8 or even 4 Ghz. What do I need to change and apply in the bios to do this?

Thanks...

Leave the bclk alone and push multiplier up by 1 or 2. Should be able to hit 4GHZ no problem.

For SB don't use the BCLK to overclock, it will cause problems and won't work well. You want to use the multiplier.

How far do you want to push it? 4.5 is an easy overclock, and pretty much 100% of 2600ks will hit it without a problem.

Ok I changed it from 34 to 36 and it did nothing. My cpu still shows 3.4 ghz.

1. Make sure you have an aftermarket cooler.
2. Go into BIOS, adjust turbo multiplier to 45, leave everything else on auto.
3. Enjoy your overclock to 4.5GHz

Which program are you using to monitor the speed? If you don't have it already download CPU-Z 1.58, it is quite accurate.

Can you please post some pictures of your BIOS? I am not familiar with EVGA motherboards, and I don't know all the setting names. To take a screenshot put a USB stick in and hit F12 while in BIOS.

That is with my multiplier set to 40. Why does my cpu still show me running at 3.4 ghz? All I did is change it from a multiplier of 34 to 40

What is strange in the bios it shows running at 4000 Mhz which is 4 Ghz basically. But in windows it says 3.39 Ghz something is not right..

Hmm. It might be that it is throttling, so you should change the power limits. I don't know what it would be called in an EVGA motherboard, so can you please post pictues of your BIOS? It will only take a minute.
