That i do. Did A LOT research. The 980 IS a real oddball in certain scenarios, lashing Intel and AMD alike.

Btw, didn't people say there were a lot of issues with the Asus Crosshair V Formula that were holding back Bulldozer's performance? Not sure if all the claims are true, but if they are you might want to look at the Asrock 990FX boards.

PSU is overkill unless you plan to Xfire later on, but then your CPU would be a major bottleneck. For a single 6990, an AX (or HX/TX) 850 should be perfectly fine.

HAF932 is a pretty decent case if you like the styling. Nothing wrong with it. Personally I'd go with a Lian Li or Corsair in that price range though.

Honestly though, if I was in your situation I'd probably just overclock the Ph II X4 and keep it until BD second-gen. Since you obviously want this system for gaming, the CPU honestly doesn't matter that much. A Core i3, Phenom II, Bulldozer, or Core i7 will all perform similarly in high resolution gaming. I don't think it's worth the $270-280 price tag of an FX8150 for little to no gain in gaming performance. Now if you encoded a lot or did something that was heavily multithreaded, the situation might favor BD more and it might more sense to shell out for the FX8150.
Silver Arrow isn't available in India and Noctua is as rare a find as uranium here. Might go in for the H100 though. Agreed that the PSU is overkill, it's just future-proofing and nothing more. Considering the Cosmos as well over the HAF. Another reason why i considered the 8150 is 'coz i stream data all over my apartment as well as video encode.

I know about all the negativity surrounding it as well as it's strengths and weaknesses. I already know it's not as good as the 2500k. That being said, lets move on:

Fx 8150

Cooler Master HAF 932

Corsair AX1200W

Asus Crosshair V Formula

XFX Radeon HD 6990

Cooler Master V10
Great, tell us when you have it set up what clock you can get and voltages and temps. Also take a photo of the CPU it self and post here, i've read somewhere ( a rumor) that BD that has a 1137 number written on it ( 2 line) will consume more than others that have 1134 or 1136. Again it's a rumor.

Go for a high resolution (highest you can afford) monitor or eyefinity. A 6990 and BD will shine pretty well there. And with that build grab a SSD. GL!

From what I've seen if you are going to overclock to 4.7+ with a 6990 then you will need some juice and the 1200w psu will give you plenty of headroom especially if you are going to go with another 6990 possibly. From the different review sites I'd say the 8150 probably needs 30 amps from the 12v rail itself at 4.7ghz. I wouldn't be surprised though to see more multi core support now with 8 cores coming to mainstream.
