I feel like im already asking a lot to my PSU, but would i push my luck to far if i'd run my i7 930 @ 4.3 with 1.38v (it seem stable) and my GTX 580 SLI still @ 850 with 1.075v ???
thx for feedback
The HX850 is actually more than enough.
Guru3D.com got their test system
to pull 719W from the wall outlet when they had two GTX 580s in SLI under full load (source
). If I assume that their PSU was 85% efficient during this power draw, then that means their system pulled about ~615W from the PSU (give or take a few, but otherwise 85% is exactly 611.15W). Now, they also recommend adding about 100-150W to account for the rest of the system which brings the load on the PSU to about 715W-765W at the absolute most.
Fortunately, the HX850 is capable of continuously delivering 850W, so that means even if you were to max out both the 580s and the i7-930, then you'd still have enough power.
