Who has cut the cord and no longer paying for cable? - Page 11

I have the Apple TV2 hacked with XMBC and am using FreeCable add on and it works pretty good. Decent savings after turning DirecTV off for sure.

Never had cable here. I spend as much on broadband and cel plans but they're more useful and w/Netflix & cheap DVDs I wouldn't have it any other way. F the cable companies

I find myself only watching Discovery HD, Nat Geo HD, and Comedy Central HD. That's it. I really need to get rid of it. Bah. It's only $65 a month though.

Being a bit of a news junkie I keep the cable because it is the best way to get me the most current news.I looked over Hulu and for the life of me I cannot understand why people would want to see a hard news show that is 8-24 hours old. Some like their high end audio, some like their eyefinity.I like current news.

Dumped cable around the beginning of the year. Saving well over $50 a month. No regrets!

The only thing keeping me from cutting cable is the need for kids shows. I'm down to about 30 bucks though. Its about as basic as I can get with a few kids channels.

Haven't had cable in 3 years. It's really only a problem when the in-laws or my parents come to visit, as they are used to cable and get scared when you hand them a mouse and keyboard instead of a remote. Usage was starting to be an issue, but now that Comcast has raised their usage cap in my area form 250GB to 300GB I'm a lot more comfortable. Honestly between Hulu's free services and Netflix lowest end package my family has more content than we could ever need. Also, I get my news from the internet like a normal person tongue.gif. If you're a really avid TV watcher, or someone that regularly discusses last night's show with friends I can see some potential problems. Nothing that's worth the ~$50-80 it costs for cable these days though.

I don't have kids, so don't take this as criticism, but couldn't you replace television with other activities?
