They are active. Fishing, sports, swimming, but they can't be active all day. Even kids need some down time.

Exactly. Also, you need something to keep them from waking you up at six in the morning during the week-end! tongue.gif

BRB cutting other cord!

Edit - Just a thought, I remember that libraries near me used to have a pretty extensive DVD collection for rent of series, movies and TV shows. Not sure if they have kids stuff, but I would imagine they do, and may save you some cash.

Netflix on the Xbox 360 solved this for me. Even the 4 year olds (yes 2) can work it. thumb.gif

Honestly between Hulu's free services and Netflix lowest end package my family has more content than we could ever need. Also, I get my news from the internet like a normal person tongue.gif. If you're a really avid TV watcher, or someone that regularly discusses last night's show with friends I can see some potential problems. Nothing that's worth the ~$50-80 it costs for cable these days though.

Totally agreed. The only time I ever feel out of the loop is when people talk about funny commercials or something. In which case who cares...tongue.gif

Grew up with cable, wife didn't. Have Comcast for web only now and use a $40 HD antenna from WalMart and get about 15 channels crystal clear 1080 HD and don't pay a dime for them. All network (abc, nbc, cbs, etc.) channels come in and that's really all I need. See sig rig for HTPC for netflix and hulu.

We haven't had TV for 6 years in the UK. They demand you pay a TV licence here to "watch or record live TV" and they are trying to tighten that belt onto catch up TV services, too. But we don't bother with them either. DVD's and .mkv's keep us going wink.gif

I'm glad someone mentioned having an HD antenna. I've been debating picking one up just to get the news and local channels etc. You have a brand/model for yours? Just tryin to get some ideas. cheers.gif
