Chromium. [Fedora 15]

post #1 of 9
Thread Starter
I was wondering if anyone knows how to install Chrome or Chromium in Fedora 15? I am getting sick of using old, slow, FireFox.

Cheers guys.

Add the Google chrome repo to /etc/yum.repos.d/google.repo
Then sudo yum install google-chrome-stable
Edit: For more concise directions see here.

Sorry, I am a complete n00b at Linux, only been using it a few months.

So, I open up the Terminal and paste:

Code:

name=Google - i386
baseurl=http://dl.google.com/linux/rpm/stable/i386
enabled=1
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=https://dl-ssl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub
This doesn't work for me.

Is there not a software centre like in Ubuntu :/?

And Btw, thanks for the reply.

Then enter your root password. If you have sudo set up then you won't need (or even have) a root password, so you will need to use this instead:

Code:
sudo su -
Then enter your user password to switch to the root user. Alternatively, you can just prepend every other command that needs escalated privileges with sudo and avoid the root user altogether (you won't need to enter your password every time, only after a timeout period). It's a matter of preference; if you're going to be running a ton of commands, it may be more practical to switch to root and avoid needing to invoke sudo over and over, just make sure you exit the root session before leaving your desk if others are around. You don't want to leave a root terminal open

So I clicked "Download .32 bit Fedora" and I got this message out:

(see attachment)

Does it matter that when I boot up I get an "error in the gnome shell"?
