Games only the 2500k would be the better option [most games don't take advantage of all 4 cores, much less hyper threading], invest the extra $100 into your GPU.

Would the 2600K be more "future-proof"? Because it is the best processor on the market right now.

Also, I hear the 2600K has better OC abilities than the 2500K, is it worth the extra 100?

That is not true actually. The 2600k is the same as the 2500k minus the hyper threading and some Mhz. And I have seen both overclock equally well.
