Anyway, here are my recommendations:
DO NOT play CoP first. You will get demolished in 5 minutes. There is no tutorial of any sorts, and unless you know HOW stalker works, you'll get your self killed a few dozen times before you reach the nearest safe area, where you can actually START doing stuff properly.
Play Clear Sky FIRST. It has a proper tutorial, and is probably my favorite out of the three (also the first one I played). The graphics are good, the game play is great, and its the only one with "Clan Wars". IMO its the best introduction to the STALKER games. In addition, if you go chronologically, its the first game on the STALKER timeline.
If you like it, play SHoC. Its a lot more story based, and is atmospheric like crazy. Its a bit less polished in game play (no upgrade system
), but its the most solid in terms of atmosphere. On "master", it also offers the most soul crushing difficulty of the three.
THEN play Call of Pripyat. Its a good game, with probably the most solid game play mechanics, but the story is weak, the atmosphere is good, but worse than the other two.
Basically, if you know nothing of the games, get Clear Sky first. Its $10 on steam, making it a complete steal.
Also, like others have said, this is NOT CoD. This really isnt like any FPS i've ever played. If you play it like CoD, you'll get bored within 5 minutes. Its a survival/atmosphere game. Its not REALLY that scary (I have yet to find a "scary" game. Dead Space 2 is more of a comedy, Amnesia is a decent game, but more of a "jumper").Edited by doomlord52 - 10/16/11 at 1:55pm
