You got the 0009 update for the firmware? I'm getting relatively the same speeds on the default firmware, but yah I noticed that in AHCI mode I was only getting like 330mb/s read when it is advertised as 470mb/s. I didn't really notice any slow operational speed so I cba to fix it. Interested in any findings though...

The P7P55D-E has a Marvell SATA 6Gb/s controller, but for a boot drive I'd really advise against using it. No TRIM support and potential problems with booting depending on how it's set up.

His board uses a Marvell chip which takes unused pci-e lanes and splices them together and calls it Sata 6gb/s.

It's not really Sata 6gb/s because bandwidth is capped and latency is high due to the splitting. Compared to native Sata 6gb/s on P67, it's a very poor setup. Sata 3gb/s will actually give better performance simply because it's linked to the chipset natively.

With 009 and P67 Sata 6gb/s, your number would be far superior.
