Are 4850s being sold / in development anymore? - Page 2

Hi,

Still have one in other halfs Dell and those cards run very hot.

Always has and have always run the card with 60% fan speed and
ramp up pretty quickly with AB to keep cool.

Noise isn't all that bad at 60% at all.

Very good card though as to performance with an OC.

If you're unable to RMA, and live close to Tx, US then I can ship you one and sell it to you relatively cheap. I'd take about 65-70 for it +shipping which is pretty decent since I bought it less than 4 months ago from a place called Altex by my house for 119.00.

It's pretty new (as previously stated) and has been tested on overclock, but not used (it's a habit with cards I get...just to see if I got lucky I guess, idunno.) and it (at 100% fan speed) will never climb above 60c (and I'm serious when I say that cuz that was even when it was overclocked from 625 to 695 on core. - max voltage of course)

Anyways, if you're relatively close to me, then I can definitely try to get something worked out with you/send you pics, w.e No problem.
The only thing that i would really rather not do, is take a video of it working in the case, because this thing has the crapiest wire management in the world, and this 6850 that's in there now would be a pain to get out.

More than likely voided the warranty by changing the TIM though..

I just ordered a Accelero L2 for a 4850 of mine.. should make a huge difference in temps.. my temps are fine but I need something quieter than stock.

And yeah, I'll call tomorrow and see what they say. Thanks guys.
I had similar issues on my Radeon 2900XT - it got to 120C under load and performance suffered massively because of throttling. I was out of warranty anyway, so i decided to remove cooler and clean it. When i removed it i discovered that cooler exhaust was totally blocked by a massive brick of dust. After removing that and re-installing cooler temperatures were back to normal.

Yeah...depends on the manufacturer. Some don't like it if you take it apart for any reason.

Though I bet you could find an aftermarket cooler for a 4850 for really cheap these days.

The Accelero L2 was only $23 shipped. Worthwhile to me to save the card for future use. This one also includes the VRAM heatsinks unlike the rest of the line.
