Is Trinity going to be better then Llano?

So with Bulldozer being slower the Phenom for the most part and seems to comsume more power. How will this affect the upcoming Trinity ALUs? Trinity is supposed to be based of Piledriver cores but I'm building a HTPC and thinking it's probably better for power comsumption to go with Llano instead of Trinity. I also know that Trinity is also going to have Cayman based graphics but for an HTCP that isn't going to be a major factor. Any thoughts or opinions?

Wait for reviews, benchmarks and valid data.If you have to build something right now, build what you know will work.

The processor part is uncertain. Supposedly Trinity is going to have an updated Piledriver core, rather than Bulldozer.

The graphics portion should be much more powerful though.

In this type of package I think it's most important that the cpu is able to keep up with the integrated gpu. If we have a situation where the cpu and gpu both reach mid-level performance in a single package, the end goal is met. That said, it would be very disappointing if the cpu portion is not at least somewhat of an improvement over Llano. In addition, if we see great increases from Intel's solutions in the graphics department, Trinity will need to be competitive in the cpu area to maintain its great value.

Looking at th A6-3500 at 65w for the HTPC build probably go with it. I just don't see Trinity having lower power consumption and be significantly faster.

One of the AMD Linux engineering systems for Trinity is running nicely even on Ubuntu 11.04 with the Linux 2.6.38 kernel. The CPU string is AMD Eng Sample 2M252057C4450_32/25/16_9900_609 and its graphics are the Trinity Devastator Mobile with 512MB of video memory and an AMD Pumori motherboard. The PCI ID on the Trinity Devastator appears to be 0x9900. This Trinity APU is quad-core and running at 2.50GHz. The current quad-core Llano offerings are clocked at 2.6GHz (A6-3650) and 2.9GHz (A8-3850), while this Trinity part is clocked slower, it's numbers are nice compared to my A8-3850 Linux system.
take it anyway you can

If you look at BD's idle power consumption, it's actually considerably lower than Phenom II. (Piledriver may improve on this further.)
Considering that typical HTPC tasks are not CPU intensive (movie watching, streaming TV..etc), this is more relevant than load consumption.

*That said, the A6's GPU & CPU are also sufficiently powerful for HTPC tasks.
Weigh the pros and cons of waiting. Then make a choice based on that.

We can conclude it will.

Why? Because it uses an updated Bulldozer (which MUST be faster than current Phenom cores) and an updated GPU core.

If only it had a faster GPU core, it'd be already faster.
