Help pushing @3.5MHz Q9450

post #1 of 45
Thread Starter
First thing first a big "Hello!" to everyone and thanks in advance for any help smile.gif .
As I'm new I'm not so sure about this is the right place to post such kind of problem, I read the forum's areas and I choose this one...If I was wrong just tell me and I'll repost in the right section.
I've reached a (probably not so) stable OC on my machine: I get past bios, windows load and I can play browse do whatever I want with it, OCCT runs 1hour with max core temp 65°C.
BUT apparently randomly I get a bsod (sometimes I just don't see the bsod I lose video signal and have to hard reset). Getting the error with Driver Verifier running I mange to get minidumps of the crash. The reference of the error is always the same so I'll just post one of them Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I don't get these bsod/freeze without OC so I guess that's the cause of them. All the drivers are up to date too. I attach my BIOS settings and the dump file so you can better help me. I just runned a memtest overnight and results seems fine (posted). If you need other informations please just ask, I really wanna get rid of this thing... frown.gif Again thank you in advance.

This might help to identify the BSODs.

BSOD codes - overclocking
0x101 = increase vcore
0x124 = increase/decrease vcore or QPI/VTT...have to test to see which one it is
0x0A = unstable RAM/IMC, increase QPI first, if that doesn't work increase vcore
0x1E = increase vcore
0x3B = increase vcore
0x3D = increase vcore
0xD1 = QPI/VTT, increase/decrease as necessary
0x9C = QPI/VTT most likely, but increasing vcore has helped in some instances
0x50 = RAM timings/Frequency or uncore multi unstable, increase RAM voltage or adjust QPI/VTT, or lower uncore if you're higher than 2x
0x109 = Not enough or too Much memory voltage
0x116 = Low IOH (NB) voltage, GPU issue (most common when running multi-GPU/overclocking GPU)
0x7E = Corrupted OS file, possibly from overclocking. Run sfc /scannow and chkdsk /r

Hi guys thank you for the fast reply.

@Mr. Moon
I've tried to up the vcore voltage to 1.45 with no benefit, should I go further?

@Ken1649
the debug bugcheck says 0x116 so a "Low IOH (NB) voltage, GPU issue (most common when running multi-GPU/overclocking GPU)"
This would support the fact that I get no video signal then the PC freezes.
How far should I go upping the NB Voltage?

x116 could be related to RAM too, restore to default and try again.

I am not sure for P5E3 Deluxe, but I would try to increase the voltage by 0.05v, should not be more than few notches.

Sadly I already tried all the ram related settings on AUTO and still getting the crash. (I also memtested my RAM whitout errors)
Let's try 1.475?
or you mean NB V? 1.65 max?

Wow that's kinda high but I don't have first hand experience with your CPU and board. Let's hear from the Gurus hear.

I wouldn't push the vcore past about 1.475, try booting with that first. Otherwise manually configure your RAM timings in the BIOS and manually set the rated RAM voltage, don't leave anything on auto. Another common cause of BSOD is the northbridge not being stable, you could try backing off on that or bumping up the voltage a little bit. I'm no guru though, so take my words with that in mind, I'm just giving some general overclocking tips.

I'll make some new tries Mr. Moon (ram timings and voltages are setted up), all suggestions are accepted!
Here's an OC guide for some insight about my mobo if anyone bother to read wink.gif
