You will need to reinstall them on the ssd. The programs on the hdd won't need to be uninstalled because there are no registry keys for them in the ssd's operating system.

Once you have any information files transferred from the hdd to the ssd, you can quick format and partition it to your liking.

For instance, my WD black 1TB has 3 partitions. 1st partition is for Windows backup from the ssd. 2nd partition is copies of all my program .exe files in case something happens. 3rd and largest partition is for media like songs and movies.

I've got a 64gb m4 on the way and I have some of the same questions. After I install W7 on the SSD, is there a way I can uninstall W7 from the HDD and still keep the programs and data there? Is that what the 'secondary hard disc optimization' process does? The SSD world is very new to me and it's rather confusing so far. I just know it's going to be blazing fast now
