2x Raid0 or Single Sata

I just got my Crucial M4 SSD and I'm going to use that as my OS+games drive. I also have:
Samung Spinpoint SJ 1Tb 2x (Going to Raid0)
Hitachi 7k3000 2Tb 1x

Which would be faster and/or more reliable to use as the data drive, and which would be better for the mirroring backup drive?

If it's for storage never use a RAID0 array.

RAID0 is a high risk array with a high failure rate. If you want storage either get a third one for RAID5 or use your hitachi for storage.

Yeah, the Data drive will only be for movies, games, work documents, etc

What he said ^^^

Also, run backups on any of your important stuff from RAID 0 to the Hitachi drive

this. The RAID0 setup as the first option (for extra speed) and the 2tb single drive backup as a safety.

never really a good idea to RAID0 mechanical drives unless
A. nothing stored on them is critical or overly important
B. you have a backup in place (like you do)
C. you actually have 4 drives and are technically running a RAID10 array

I am running a raid10 technically, since I'll use rsync to back it up to the backup drive, which in this case will be the Hitachi, then, since everyone recommends it

I have a Vertex3 for OS, accounting program, and a couple of games. (not even half full)
I use two WD RE4's, 500gb ea in a RAID0 array, shortstroked to 500gb total for data
One WD Blue 1TB to back up everything (two differant backup and a clone of the SSD)

if your running a true RAID10 setup, theres no need for the other 2TB hitachi drive (unless you need extra space).

A RAID10 array is completely reliable and very fast. If one drive fails a new one can be inserted and can be completely rebuild. So far as i know, 2 drives need to all fail at once (2 drives that were striped with the same data) in a 4 drive RAID10 Array for the array to fail and not be rebuildable, and the chances of that happening are EXTREMMEEELLLLYYY small

Ok, semantics, but it's kinda like it. I'm just mirroring whatever data there is on the Raid0 (2x 1Tb) into the 2Tb hitachi. Just without the fancy controller thing. When I bought the Hitachi, I thought I'd buy a different brand to the Samsung to prevent 'just in case widespread brand failure'
