Not really; you give the people far less credit than they deserve.
A relatively small percentage will actually know the specifics to the hardware; but everyone buying the phone understands that the iPhone is the one with the best music management style, the largest app collection, the simplest and most recognizable OS - while also being (arguably) the most developed
@number of apps is hardly indicative of quality. Android has just as many quality apps as iOS while not having as many over all.
What's more is that due to it's open-source nature, Android likely has more developers while there are over 30,000 WP7.5 developers; how many developers does iOS have? Would you rather develop to 48% of the market(Android) or 28%(iOS). So to say it's more developed is a point I won't concede.
