[tc] iPhone 4S First Weekend Sales Exceeds 4 Million, Doubles The Pace Of The iPhone - Page 8

A relatively small percentage will actually know the specifics to the hardware; but everyone buying the phone understands that the iPhone is the one with the best music management style, the largest app collection, the simplest and most recognizable OS - while also being (arguably) the most developed
I don't mean to take anything from Apple but, Zune Marketplace matches iTunes feature for feature + you get free unrestricted music when you sign up. Not only that but WP7.5's Live Tiles are arguable simpler to use than iOS/Android due to the simple fact that you don't have to launch anything to stay informed like you do with the competition. WP7 also had a deeper integration of email and social networks than did Android and iOS.

@number of apps is hardly indicative of quality. Android has just as many quality apps as iOS while not having as many over all.

What's more is that due to it's open-source nature, Android likely has more developers while there are over 30,000 WP7.5 developers; how many developers does iOS have? Would you rather develop to 48% of the market(Android) or 28%(iOS). So to say it's more developed is a point I won't concede.

why? the Atrix is 8 months old and it's 1 Ghz dual core vs 800 mhz dual core, and 1GB ram vs 512 mb ram....

Actually the 800MHz Cortex-A9 powering the 4S makes it slower than just about every dual core phone on the market. Its slower than the Atrix, the Atrix 2, the Optimus 2X, the Optimus 3D, the Droid Bionic, the Droid 3, the Galaxy S II, the Galaxy R, and all of the other Galaxy S II variants.

The only phones its faster than are the ones running a Qualcomm chipset, because it's still using it's Cortex A8 derivative. Once Qualcomm gets A9-based Krait out the door you can expect a plethora of HTC products that will all be faster than the 4S as well. To make matters worse, the Adreno 220 measures up pretty well against the SGX543-MP2. A slightly faster Adreno 225 paired with a 1.5GHz Krait should leave the 4S feeling like a Ti-83 running a cheap monochrome recreation of Doom.

Measuring GPU performance on a phone is fairly pointless, since its not a dedicated gaming device. Even when you bring gaming into the equation 99% of the games people are playing on their phones aren't so graphics intensive as to cause even my Desire to break out in a sweat.

While I personally don't exactly care for apple the arguments some of you are using against the 4s are just ridiculous. It is a great phone, only thing I dislike is the screen size and the fact that they still have 512MB of ram.

The Adreno 220 doesn't even come close to the SGX543MP2. The 225 performs well but if I remember correctly has some major weakness, although I might be thinking of something else.

Thankfully, I came from using about the same size screen. To be fair, I don't really mind the size as so many gripe about. For being me, as a female, they don't make gigantic pockets like they do for guys, so it fits much nicer. All these giant new phones are wreaking havoc on the pants pocket industry. Everyone is going to have to wear cargo pants.

Of course there are phones with higher processors speeds ON PAPER. Put in use, it's a totally different story. But you don't care about that one bit, all you care about is pure numbers and bragging rights, but at the end of the day, none of that matters. Specs on paper don't improve the end user experience, no matter how you try to justify it.

And here you are cherry picking. You find a whacked out rationale for how "slow" the 4S is, then totally write off it's GPU performance, purely because it annihilates any other phone and most tablets on the market. I think the only tablet it doesn't beat is the iPad 2.

Cool story bro.

I'm a little surprised at the sales amount, I don't know anyone who got a 4s. The iPhone 4 can run siri and do anything the 4s can do. no real point in getting it.

We all know that apple markets to the technophobe. people who don't know technology and are ignorant enough in the domain that they believe that apple has the most powerful product ever. I didn't think that many people were gullible though.
The irony of this post tastes delicious.
