Comparing the amount of jiggawats per processor isn't indicative of performance, you'd think people would be aware of that ON OVERCLOCK.NET.

Funny how people discount the gpu performance of the phone when it's convenient to do so, Apple could've put out the cure for cancer and you trolls would still be here bashing.

Specs on paper don't improve the end user experience, no matter how you try to justify it.

And here you are cherry picking. You find a whacked out rationale for how "slow" the 4S is, then totally write off it's GPU performance, purely because it annihilates any other phone and most tablets on the market. I think the only tablet it doesn't beat is the iPad 2.

Cool story bro.
Don't try to use logic on OCN. These haters will take you to their level and beat you with experience. :\\

In any case, love my 4S, awesome upgrade from my 3GS. ^_^

Well, if Apple changed their logo from a silver apple to a little green android it would be seen as the best thing since sliced bread on OCN.

Oh, dont get me wrong, I am not bashing any company here. I dont even have a smartphone! Not the issue.

I just find it funny that someone was bringing up the point that android users are only concerned with numbers when this thread is about the number 4 million

It's easy to forget that the iPhone4 (and all previous ones) were launched for AT&T only, and then the Verizon 4 was added later. The 4S is launched for AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint simultaneously. So it's only natural for them to have a better launch than any previous version - if they didn't I'd be worried.

I'm considering getting an iPhone 4S, and I don't have a single Apple product on my desk. So... how exactly are all people that buy one Apple loyal? I have a Nexus One sitting right next to me, as a matter of fact. First phone I've actually ever been happy with 100%.

Going forward, I may be getting an iPhone. They are absolutely great products, with a great UI and way more productive apps than Android has.

The Apple hate on this forum is ridiculous.

We don't even know the true performance of the 220 because its severely bottlenecked by the dual Scorpion cpus. Its twice as fast as Exynos in pure OpenGL benchmarks, but quite a bit slower in mixed game simulations. Its only weakness is a tired old CPU, and if Krait can do the same thing to the A9 that Scorpion did to the A8 it will be much faster than the cut-and-paste reference designs used by the A5/Tegra/Exynos/OMAP chipsets.

And as far as specs go ForumViewer I'm sure you'd love to believe that Jobs came down and sprinkled fairy dust on the A5 to make the CPU its using somehow faster, but its the exact same design used in every other A9-based dual core chipset.

You can argue all you want about poor homescreen implementation, but in terms of actual app performance, Android apps are JIT-compiled, so they are just as fast as the native iOS apps. That means the difference between the CPU on the 4S and every dual core Android phone is the same as the difference between an X4 980 and an X4 945. The 980 is 20% faster thanks to a 20% faster clock speed.

It's weakness is also texturing. This pretty much sums it up: http://www.anandtech.com/show/4940/q...architecture/3

Mmm, nope. That's why Apple acquired Intrinsity who specialize in ARM based processors and PowerVR GPUs. Intrinsity actually worked with Samsung to produce an ARM-Cortex A8 that can reach 1GHz speeds.

I'm not saying the performance difference will be extreme and that a 800MHz A5 is going to outperform a 1.4GHz Cortex-A9 but it'll be better than an 800MHz Cortex-A9 although by how much no one can say.

Well, I'm guessing its the best launch of any product ever, in the history of the world. Watch the news and see if I'm right.

Who started ARM ltd?

Who has shipped more consumer arm products than anyone?

Who has over 1000 engineers working on mobile cpus?
