I don't know.. 960T is not a very popular CPU, so my info on it is scarce. From my experience, all AMD CPUs that I've had, have managed to undervolt by at least 0.1v, sometimes 0.2v and more (my current 450 can run 3.2Ghz on 1.18v).

But that is up to the individual chip. I see 960T BE is 95W, while the regular is 125W. I somehow doubt that. Same chip, same amount of cores, same clock, 30W less just because of unlocked multi?

That CPU is proly 125W all the way.

Also, isn't it more expensive? That's a Thuban design with Turbo boost.. new stuff. I think it's more expensive than the 955.

960T is an OEM chip, not for resale. It's better than an x4 because of the IMC and possible unlocking those extra 2 cores.

I know this thread is dead, but that is not true:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103995

It WAS an OEM chip, AMD has since released a retail version of it, and yes, it was out at the time of your post.

That's because it's no longer made. They have to get rid of old stock obviously. It's an OEM chip, and was never released for retail during production.

Edit:
I also said "not for resale" not "retail".

Yes I highly enjoy my 840 as I have it over 4ghz. Even hit 2730mhz on the nb and 4.2ghz but turned it down as my temps were too close for comfort. It is a GREAT chip and I play bf3 with a 6850 and get MINIMUM fps of high forties.

phenom II is a dated platform. you might as well save up and buy ivy-bridge.

Why not wait till mid March? and see how Ivy bridge turns out and what is your budgets looking like ? Price drops on Sandy bridge will more than likely happen as well.
Edit: my bad meant sandy - e

I think all discussions should begin with the first of your post smile.gif
