New Gigabyte GTX580 card: N580UD-15I or GV N580SO-15I

Hello again,

Sorry to bother you lads again with a GPU question. I was about to purchase the MSI GTX580 Lightning card, but it went out of stock at my shop and it can take awhile for new ones to arrive. Hence, I've looked at the Gigabyte cards, which should perform equally given elements like their Windforce cooling.

Now, essentially there are two choices, the N580UD-15I (no factory overclock) or GV N580SO-15I (standard factory overlock). I've looked at their specs and really the only difference that I can spot is the fact that the SO version comes with a noticable factory overclock. The UD card is 20,- euros cheaper, so is there any point in getting the SO card instead of doing the (light) overclocking myself, even if I just overclock to the settings of the SO card?

Regards,

Zaph

Probably not a noticeable difference between the cards. If you don't plan on doing extreme overclocking with the cards, then I would just go with the standard, and flash the OC bios to it, or run it at the OC specs using software.

Sometimes the factory overclock cards can be higher binned cards, and have better max OC, but I'm not sure if that's the case with Gigabyte.

the SO version of the gtx 580 is definitely binned. If you like overclocking, get that one.
