Audigy2zs + Mumble + Win7 = Helicopter?

Thread Starter
I have this issue with my Audigy2zs where my mic sounds like a helicopter. As much as I love making helicopter noises and flying around my room, my buddies cant understand a word im saying on mumble. Its been doing this since as long as i can remember. Tested my onboard and its fine the mic works perfectly but the sound itself is terrible. Absolutely no bass punch and pretty weak highs. This coupled with the fact it sounds like its constantly changing volume drives me bonkers (even with "Loudness equalization" disabled).

Long story short - has anyone experienced this issue before and have a solution or ideas? It starts doing it as soon as mumble starts, meaning Vent/TS echo tests are clean until i start up mumble, then they all sound like a chopper. It also seems to do it if my machine has been on for an extended period of time in all 3 programs. I have "executive control" disabled for the mic/card and I also have a 64bit-audigy2 mic fix registry tweak I found some time ago.

*Edit* My hands are tied in terms of a new soundcard until at least XMas. Probably longer
