Yes it would be a big jump. I can say, I overclock to 4 Ghz on air, so if temps are a big deal for you, I know the X6 cools very nicely.

Do not upgrade your cpu. Make sure you have at least 4 GB of ram and upgrade your video card. Core 2 Quads are about equal to Phenom II chips, which is plenty for any single card, even some dual cards. Unless you're are using an ancient resolution.

Buddy, you have some tough decisions to make!

Can you go into usercp and add your system so we can see your hardware in your signature?

Let's get a little more information from you so we can properly advise! We cannot just jump in and say intel, intel, intel, strictly based on it blowing away AMD in almost every category; we really need to know your situation a little better to give you legitimate advise.

What GPU's do you have now?
What memory do you have now, what speed, how much, dual chanell?
What resolution do you game in?
What monitor(s) do you have?

What is your budget like?

I really cannot justify telling you to move to AMD though. You have 2 elements that are pretty dated though, your CPU (not so much), and your DDR2. Budgets tend to make the decisions though.

this^ ..also..a single 6790 would seriously impress you..

INTEL ALL THE WAY! i7 2500K or 2600K. You'll pay a bit more up front but in the long run it will be more than worth it. You got the top of the line for your current CPU so why do it again now? Get a 2500K or 2600K and you'll have no regrets.
