Go for the P8P67 EVO B3, as it's a full ATX board. Not saying you won't be able to get a nice OC on the GENE-Z but it's only mATX, and usually that means not as great OC performance. Also the P67 chipset on the P8P67 will be fine for what you want to do.

Not trying to flame, but do you own either motherboard?

I Own the Gene-Z, but havent built it up yet (still have three more weeks in afghanistan) but I chose it from research and asking people who own them. There is a Gene-Z owners group on overclock, and I would suggest looking there.

The Z68 chipset has a ton of great features

Here is the official intel site

P67 here

Do some research, PM guys that own the boards (I bet they will be more than happy to give you their opinion).

P8P67 pro, it offers alot more expandability than the MGZ

Also the Z68 chipset offers little over the P67, unless you need to run onboard graphics whilst overclocking or see SSD caching as being useful to your build, which to many it just isnt.

m-ATX boards OC just fine, especially a top end one like the MGZ. All a m-ATX board will offer him is limited expandability. You may see some performance loss on a cheap board that just happens to have the P67 or Z68 chipset, but no difference on a high end m-ATX board

Get the Maximus IV GENE-Z, reasons:

- Z68 chipset, yea you may not benefit from it, but at least you'll have access to onboard graphics should you need it (in case your GPU dies one day and you still want to use your PC till you get a new card).

- Better VRM (in theory), the Gene-Z uses "Extreme Engine Digi+", instead of the normal "Digi+". Thus in theory you should be able to get better overclocks (but honestly there will be no difference in overclocks).

If you have no use for the extra PCI lanes, then no point getting the EVO. Get the newer, better, Gene-Z
